51:52 Peace
For this second last theme of the year…peace…I have photographed Otis and Fleur again in a festive setting.
For me, the holiday season is about peace, giving and forgiving, and inner joy. I don't want gifts for Christmas - what I want is world peace. I know that's asking a lot, and I don't expect it to happen, but we can start small. We can smile at others as they walk by - just a smile will often melt a heart and make someone's day. We can accept others as they are, even if they are completely different from us. We can respect others, because each of us expects to be respected. We can be positive, and live each moment to its fullest, as we really don't know if it is our last. And we can love without expecting anything in return. I believe that all these things will bring inner peace, and that's a start. It's not easy, but it's a goal to work towards.
Rumi said, "Out beyond the ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there.
That's my philosophical post for the year….
Every nation is part of the history we inherit, blacks and whites, slaves, and gods; we have no other option, embracing each other.

Love is forgiving, accepting, moving on, embracing, and all-encompassing. And if you’re not doing that for yourself, you cannot do that with anyone else.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
forgiving myself for putting others before myself, making myself second best, is a hard thing to do
its a slow path ... but getting there <3
Finally have edited through my pile of Jpeg images from Oct 03 and now working on some images of late fall at the lake taken from Oct 21 not the still waters I hoped for but as my Pappy used to say “Make hay while the sun is shining”.
I hope my subject material will not become too boring but the lake is a great subject and it is a good exercise for me to see where I can take an image in post processing given the new camera with its extremely large file sizes and sheer detail it captures.
While having a new camera is exciting it is also at times frustrating, moving from the D750 which was quite forgiving in slow shutter speed to the D850 which rubs your nose in every tiny imperfection in your set up and shot process.
Oh well onward and upward one doesn’t improve without stretching so I will be extra vigilant in my set ups and use a better process for triggering my shutter but the biggest lesson I learned was not shoot from a floating dock in low shutter speeds, with so many pixels it quickly shows any movement.
I took this on Oct 21, 2020 with my D850 and Tamron 15-30mm G2 Lens at 30mm 1/6 sec f/16 ISO64 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO

Here your footsteps
they were embellishing the sands,
clearing the waters,
polishing the pebbles, forgiving
to the spellbound

You don't go by the river:
it is the river that runs
behind you, looking at you
the reflection, looking in your back.
If you go in a hurry, the river rushes.
If you go slowly, the water backs up.

Christmas has always been a synonym for time with family and loved ones, time of giving and forgiving.
Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!

Is happiness about living the present moment? Is it just about taking care of the "right now"? For me happiness is also looking at the past and feeling grateful for all the good things that people gave me. It is also forgiving the people who hurted me and finding peace in my heart. It is looking to the future with hope, thinking that there are beautiful discoveries ahead, people to share fantasy and reality. It is thinking that you put your little grain of sand for a better world. It is sharing love yesterday, today and tomorrow.
I spent a wonderful few hours last night boulder hopping and slithering over seaweed, walking from Birling Gap to Beachy Head on the beach! I just love exploring beaches at low tide! No one else was about so I had the beach to myself. I'd earlier dismissed Sussex for sunsets, how wrong I was, so Forgiving you was easy, by Willie Nelson is a fine title, don't judge a coast too soon!
Sometimes when you're out at night it's hard to tell what could happen. Everything could go dark at any moment, the fog could roll in, change can happen rapidly. Fortunately for me that didn't happen this night. The fog couldn't have been more forgiving and put on quite a show for a few days. It's hard to fully understand how awesome it is until your out above it watching the world melt away into mist below. A special treat.
An image scanned and uploaded 11 years ago which I've tried to improve upon, but without success. So here's the unadulterated original given another run-out......
In the more forgiving landscape east of Woodhead, 1500v DC electrics 76036 and 76032 round the curve at Shorehall Crossing with an eastbound Trans-Pennine fitted freight.
The Manchester, Sheffield, Wath route wasn't one you might typically associate with bucolic surroundings, but this very pleasant spot, complete with a signal cabin, certainly ticked all the right boxes. God's Own Country, some might say.
Sadly the line closed in 1981 as a through route, and the only traffic seen here these days are hikers and riders using the Trans Pennine Trail, which the trackbed became.
If images from this period are your thing, this might be of interest....

The Fallen Angel
A far away rumbling draws near,
An eerie calm, ensues all things,
Remain still.
Silence reigns, nature holds,
It's breath,
Carried upon shifting winds
Hear soft whispers calling, beware.
Heavens valets brake open,
Thunder quakes,
Lightening flashes splitting the,
Clouds apart.
Castaways refugee, descends,
Pleading,
Do not forsake me.
Death's shadows dance to and fro.
A crumpled figure lies motionless,
Bare pale flesh, warmed only by,
Mangled wings tattered remnants.
White feathers drifting aloft,
Aimless,
Sorrows innocent victim beseeching,
Forgiveness on bloody grounds,
Rough surf.
Humanities guardian,
Regrets shameful,
Reminder a fallen angel.
All grace replaced by broken,
Hearts loss.
With trembling hands, bony fingers,
Scratching at loosened soil.
Here she makes a holy symbol,
The sign of the cross.
Forgiving lord, heavenly father.
Bring me home unto thee.
In shroud's pitch blackness,
Beneath darkness’s abyss.
God weeps, behold gentle rains,
Merciful tears.
Thy lost lamb seeks salivations solos.
Redemption’s everlasting light,
Shines from above.
Guiding kindred’s dearest child to,
Loves unspoken embrace.

This is an older image that came up on a slide show that runs form my backup disks. Its kind of a way to offer the forgotten images a second chance. If something catches my eye, I will pull it out, blow the dust off it and let it get posted.
This is Lower Lewis Falls in Washington. Yes, that ledge looks like a diving board, and many in the summer use it as such. Its a long drop to the bottom and landing the dive correctly is key, because the rocks below are not that forgiving if you miss. I have posted a few of this waterfall, but never from the top. Let me know what you think.

Prickly pears on the side of the hill at their best but no one to pick them.
Sadly, the house in the background is left to decay and will eventually collapse.
Traditional mud brick construction is a cheap and easy form of making all kinds of shelters, either for humans, animals or storage. Mud brick has many positive qualities, it is load bearing and has good insulation properties. It is also fire resistant and forgiving, meaning that if you make a mistake you can correct it by remaking it. Mud brick construction also has the cleanest ecological footprint as it returns to the earth from where it came. The materials used to make mud bricks are available all over Cyprus. This includes clay soil, chopped straw and water. It is most economical to use readily available materials rather than transport soil in from distant areas. All that is needed is water and man power to mix it and the sun to dry it. The external coat of render protects the mud bricks from the rain.
However, this perfect form of construction has been replaced in recent times with imported methods which consist of cement and hollow clay bricks offering little insulation and add significantly to the cost of house bulding.

This is especially hard for me right now....forgiving others. I think when people hurt you, and they are not sorry, nor feel concern whatsoever for your broken heart, it makes it harder to forgive and forget. Trying to let go of the pain and trying not to let those stabs pain your heart is easier said that done, right? Sometimes we just have to let it go, not take it personally and move on.
In these times I have noticed more often that people are getting nastier. They are miserable and want to make others feel as awful as they do. All we can do is unplug. Distance ourselves from the hatred and surround ourselves with love. Don't let the negativity destroy you!
Sending each on of my Flickr friends good vibes during these trying times! XO

There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in times gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed, that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream...
I dreamed

After some fresh snowy powder that was mostly gone by sunrise, a late afternoon South Shore “Belt Job” or AF4, heads west through Gary, IN along Interstate 90, enroute for Belt Railway of Chicago’s Commerical Avenue Yard. Seen here, CSS 2005 (GP38-2) and FURX 4223 (GP40-2) take charge of taking 27 cars up and down the curvy hill over the former EJ&E, now the CN Matteson Sub as they coast down in run 8 fashion. This is one of the bigger hills on the railroad, the railroad that Trains Magazine calls “Flat & forgiving” a name that fans and employees frankly just can’t stand to hear anymore. Taken: 2-16-23.

Breaking in a sweat
Like a bomb threat
Is your silhouette fading out?
Nothing left to lose
Detonate the fuse
Another breaking news blowout
Ain't it beautiful?
So unusual
Life's a gas, and it's running out
Living a cliche
Gonna seize the day
Bottle rockets that celebrate
Celebrate
Celebrate
Carpe diem, a battle cry
Are we all too young to die?
Ask a reason, and no reply
Are we all too young to die?
Making a living
Making a killing
What's worth forgiving, alright
A blink of an eye
Barely scraping by
Dominated by passerby's
Feeling out of luck
When the traffic's stuck
And you're feeling so left behind
Getting off a binge
Get a second wind
Another promise to make a change
Got a broken wing
Hear the angels sing
With the signal is out of range
Ain't it strange?
Ain't it strange?
Carpe diem, a battle cry
Are we all too young to die?
Ask a reason, and no reply
Are we all too young to die?
Making a living
Making a killing
What's worth forgiving, alright

Forever
When we fall in love
every moment is as beautiful
as droplets on a spider web
and every single moment together
is glowing with passion
that seem to make all moments
last forever
love is strong and powerful
and yet it sometimes
makes us feel as fragile
as the delicate spider web
if it should break
it can be restored
time after time after time
since true love
from a sincere heart
always
is forgiving
kind, caring and tender
it too can be restored
even as mild and devoted as this
it can make us feel
like we're on fire
true love
never burns out
it can last a life time
and still be as passionate
and intense
as the very first moment….that lasted forever...

Dear friends, I do so much appreciate your kind attention and lovely, heartwarming comments. Thank you in advance for forgiving me that I most probably reply to your comments very late (also those for my preceding photos)
Taken from Llechog Ridge on a particularly hot day. With such a massive structure, I find myself moving and composing until the foreground is at its most complementary. Having practiced now on several different mountains, I am getting a hang of the challenge.
The climb up the Rhyd Ddu path was forgiving for the most part, though the sun would cause us some concern during our return from the summit. Luckily, and with little water left, we made it back without suffering heat stroke or even sunburn. Snowdon is now our favourite mountain climbed.
Today I spent the day at the BMW DP Tour at Wentworth, and it’s fair to say we were treated to some hefty rain spells, scattered throughout like dramatic interludes.
At times, the sky would darken suddenly, turning a deep slate grey as towering thunderclouds rolled in with theatrical force. The atmosphere felt heavy, electric—nature’s own commentary on the tournament below.
By the time I got home, golden hour had arrived, casting everything in a warm, forgiving light. I sent my drone up to chase the remnants of those storm clouds that had drenched us all day. This one here was still spilling its raindrops—only now, they shimmered in a soft orange hue, kissed by the sunset.
The town in the foreground is Welling, quietly basking beneath the drama above.
The then silent night had given way to the screams of pain, terror and the sinister and spiteful laughs of the vampire.
Their swords created through their own blood, with extreme speed fall on their victims dismembering them and decapitating. They didn't even have a chance to fight him with dignity, as they could only feel a sudden strong wind, see a brief figure and then, their bodies were sliced up with such force that their armor felt like paper.
In the sky, the moon shone like a huge, glittering silver scythe, a somewhat apt shape for this night, when he was a reaper and didn't make a point of leaving any poor devil alive. Everyone would pay for standing against him. With grace and extreme savagery their swords continued to fall on those who could no longer flee, who due to such fear, were paralyzed. It was a slaughter. He didn't care, he wouldn't be forgiving or pious tonight, he would be brutal and he insisted on demonstrating all his power, so that no mortal, vampire, or werewolf would ever make a point of rising up against him again. He would allow only the women and children to survive this night, to tell everyone about the horror that had befallen their city. When the animals controlled by a demon invaded the city gates, as if lashed by its invisible whip, and when finally the devil himself descended on them, always almost invisible, like a wind of death, at first tearing with its beastly claws the terrified people of the city, then impaling them, with spears created through their own blood, setting the city ablaze with flames that seemed to arise from hell itself or from your heart aflame with hate. When then the two swords set to fall on them, cutting flesh, amputating limbs and beheading heads.
The city of Khaldheim would be an example to everyone. The fire flickered in the burning houses, like huge insatiable demons wanting to feed on more and more, turning the once majestic houses to ashes. Like the flames, his swords were not content with the pile of dismembered bodies left in his path, like a scarlet wind, he continued to claim lives and as he did, he laughed with delight, for few things gave him more pleasure than wanton killing. His laughter echoed through the air, chilling the blood of those who were still alive even more, announcing that it wouldn't be for long.

In this farewell
There's no blood, there's no alibi
'Cause I've drawn regret
From the truth of a thousand lies
So let mercy come and wash away
What I've done
I'll face myself to cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done
Put to rest what you thought of me
While I clean this slate
With the hands of uncertainty
So let mercy come and wash away
What I've done
I'll face myself to cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done
For what I've done
I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I'm forgiving what I've done
I'll face myself to cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done
What I've done
Forgiving what I've done

Red Rebel Brigade symbolises the common blood we share with all species,
That unifies us and makes us one.
As such we move as one, act as one and more importantly feel as one.
We are unity and we empathise with our surroundings, we are forgiving
We are sympathetic and humble, compassionate and understanding,
We divert, distract, delight and inspire the people who watch us,
We illuminate the magic realm beneath the surface of all things and we invite people to enter in, we make a bubble and calm the storm, we are peace in the midst of war.
We are who the people have forgotten to be!
Red Rebel Brigade was devised by Doug Francisco and Justine Squire from Bristol’s Invisible Circus for the Extinction Rebellion Spring uprising April 2019 in London
I know, I know, am in Australia? I know Milky Way season is over, but I have been sitting on this image for a long time. A rainy weekend finally gave me some time to finish it.
So lets dive into the image.
My photo buddy Tom and I set out to shoot this little arch at the City of Rocks in Idaho. This was only about 40 feet from our camp site. This place is amazing. The image is a bit misleading though, the arch is actually only about 7 feet tall. The arch is situated in an odd way, I had to stand on a steep rock face with the tripod set up in a very unusual fashion. The fall was not big, just a few feet if I did fall. The only thing I had going for me was the rocks are like sandpaper, so everything sticks to them like glue, no sliding. Now that's all well and good, but that does not help your foot cramp when you are sitting on the edge of the rock face. Especially with 5 minute exposures. See, I was shooting with my new star tracker, so I was shooting super long exposures of the stars. I did not want to get down while it was shooting because if the camera fell, it would surly die, these rocks are not forgiving. So I sat there, trying to shift my weight as it shot. Not fun.
I am still getting used to the move-shoot-move star tracker. I think its great, but if Tom was not with me I would have had a hard time finding the north star. Thanks to Tom! We used some super low level lighting of the rocks, with some blending, naturally. A necessary evil with a star tracker I am afraid. regarding the composition, I am trying to use the arch, and the small break in the top of the arch to act as a leading line to the Milky Way.
Let me know what you think.

Veeries are inconspicuous forest birds except for their beautiful downward-spiraling song, which they give often in late spring and summer, especially at dusk and dawn. They forage on the ground and logs for invertebrate prey, somewhat in the manner of American Robin or Hermit Thrush, peering around, then moving a short distance and repeating the process. You may also hear their distinctive, scolding call note, a harsh veerr usually given from a hidden nook.

Wrapped around my soul
Hard forgiving, hard forget
Faith is in our hands
Castles made of sand
No more guessing, no regrets
Then you came my way on a winter's day
Shouted loudly come out and play
Can't you tell I got news for you
Sun is shining and so are you
And we're gonna be alright
Dry your tears and hold tight
Can't you tell I got news for you
Sun is shining and so are you
And we're gonna be alright
Dry your tears and hold tight
Can't you tell I got news for you

✈️ : Where Our Journey Begins (sim closing in New Year)
No, I'm not looking for forgiving ties
I'm just looking for a way to survive
I and I for me, for you
And then for them too
Well, I was stuck in a state of reluctance
My hand was bitten by the mouth that it fed
I tried to slip back into the bathroom
A thought approached me as my fingers bled
Who are these people, how do they see me?
Could they get up if I let them down now?
I'm not looking for forgiving ties
I'm just looking for a way to survive
I and I
No, I'm not looking for forgiving ties
I'm just looking for a way to survive
I and I for me, for you
And then for them too
And if they survive every buried disorder
And come to terms with a life on the ledge
But I could be kind to myself in the mortar
And take a moment with the hammer again
Finding my wings
Finally, after weeks of work and a windy weekend, I decided to make a rare weekday foray down to the northern beaches this morning.
This new system is going to take some learning. The 16mpx 4/3rds sensor in the Inspires X5 was terrific for what it was and this morning showed me just how forgiving it was as well.
At 1/30th in 15km/h winds the X5 would have produced seemingly tack sharp images. Turn things up to 42mpx and suddenly there’s a little more scrutiny. This was one of the only images I came away with and even it’s not where I would have liked it to be.
A few things were at play here - ill need to really learn how to optimise the Ronin MX. The narrower DOF on the 35mm Carl Zeiss lens unquestionably inflated matters (over the 30mm equiv. on the X5) of which I could resolve with a (yet-to-be acquired) 21mm Loxia and ill need to look into how to leverage the internal stabilisation.
This thing is going to be a whole different ball game to the Inspires and Phantoms. It’s big, relatively complex with far more to consider and by no means as easy. None-the-less, the potential with so much airborne IQ is huge and it has me excited.
I did want a challenge…
