"Father Forgive"

Coventry Cathedral was destroyed by fire in 1940. These 14th century hand forged nails from its roof were formed into a cross which became a symbol of reconciliation in a divided world. When the Diocese of Worcester celebrated its 1300th anniversary in 1980 this cross of nails was given to it by the Bishop and people of Coventry.

Coventry Cathedral from the Herbert Gallery.

Following the bombing of the Mediaeval Cathedral in 1940, Provost Howard had the words 'Father Forgive' inscribed on the wall behind the Altar of the ruined building. These words are used as the response in the Coventry Litany of Reconciliation, which is prayed in the ruins every Friday at noon, and is used throughout the world by the Community of the Cross of Nails.

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

The hatred which divides nation from nation, race from race, class from class,

Father Forgive.

The covetous desires of people and nations to possess what is not their own,

Father Forgive.

The greed which exploits the work of human hands and lays waste the earth,

Father Forgive.

Our envy of the welfare and happiness of others,

Father Forgive.

Our indifference to the plight of the imprisoned, the homeless, the refugee,

Father Forgive.

The lust which dishonours the bodies of men, women and children,

Father Forgive.

The pride which leads us to trust in ourselves and not in God,

Father Forgive.

Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

,..S,

Forgive my obsession with gypsies. I understand that they are people just like everyone else. My dad used to tell me that we were part gypsy when I was growing up... which turns out to be not true. But I always wanted a gypsy caravan... or at least a goat cart.

Having never experienced gitanos in person before... and reading too many romantic books... and reading tons of tourist warnings about gypsy scams...I am enthralled.

This woman fascinated me... from her uncanny stare right into the camera (she was looking away right before the shuttler clicked)... to her spectacular stuffed tiger feet slippers... how can I not be spellbound?

This is right on the portico of the Pantheon.

"Forgive us our trespasses, AS WE FORGIVE those who trespass against us." (Matthew 6:12)

MEDITATION

"Jesus' prayer includes an injunction that we must ask God to forgive us in proportion AS WE FORGIVE those who have wronged us. Are you ready to forgive as Jesus forgives?"

PRAYER

"Our Father in heaven, YOU have given me a Mind to know YOU, a Will to serve YOU, and a Heart to Love YOU. Give me today the Grace and Strength to embrace YOUR Holy Will and fill my heart that all my intentions and actions may be pleasing to YOU. Help me to be Kind and Forgiving towards my neighbor as YOU have been towards me". ~ www.dailyscripture.net

Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington is the home of University of Kentucky Wildcat football. (For any European visitors, this is not the version of football we call "soccer." This is the American version with the oblong ball and the inadequate safety equipment.) The University is part of the SEC, a conference within the National Collegiate Athletics Association known for great football. And Kentucky is arguably the conference's top performer ... in basketball. Kentucky fans don't really care about football, which is good because Kentucky's not any good at it. The school has more wins than any other in mens basketball, but in football, we're laughable.

Like any real Kentuckian, I don't like football, so this stadium is significant to me in other ways. First, in the early 1990s the university used this as the parking lot for freshmen living in the dorms. My dorm was about a half-mile away from here, so whenever I wanted to go someplace in my car, this was where I'd walk. Second, about half-way through my first semester at the university, I was talking to a group of people about a security flaw I'd noticed. If you look at the walkway ramps at the left, you'll notice the first level has some sort of metal mesh that prevents people from climbing the chain link fence onto the walkway. That didn't exist in 1991. Once I mentioned it to people, I was of course dared to take advantage of it. So late that night, I walked to the parking lot and hopped the fence into Commonwealth Stadium. I had the run of it for about 30 minutes, during which I went down to the field and pretended to make a hundred-yard punt return. (I knew nothing of football then, so I didn't know that's what the play I imagined was called.) I remember, there was a bright moon that night, and the air was crisp as I ran. That part of it's a nice memory.

At the time, the university police were driving mid-'80s Dodge Diplomats, which even somewhat new were very bland cars. I didn't notice the Dodge Diplomat standing right by the fence as I tried to climb out until it flashed me with its spotlight. I ducked down where he couldn't see me and sat there for about 15 minutes, listening to the gathering cops organize the manhunt, then stood up with my hands raised and came out peacefully. I plead guilty to 3rd degree criminal trespass. Oddly, alcohol was not involved.

"Forgive others, not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace."

Anyone Can Come Into Your Life and say how much they love you but it takes someone really special to stay in your life and show how much they love you

Forgive Durden performed their rock-musical "Razia's Shadow" at Bumbershoot 2009

Please forgive the terrible self-timer in bathroom light and the non-straight angle on the back shots, first attempt at taking fitting pix. I cut from a size 10 at shoulders to 14 at waist. I can't really tell what's right or wrong. The arms are definitely too tight, they pull to the point of ripping under the arm at the bend when I raise my arms. The bust looks okay? I'm not really sure there's all that excess room in the back as I had to seriously contort to get it pinned and doubt it's pinned very accurately. I accidentally cut off the bottom of the first picture but it hits right at the navel and seems to fit fine there. Both my shoulders and bust are uneven.. Any and all advice very welcomed.

By the way, how does a swayback/big butt adjustment happen with a waist seam dress?

Also, this totally looked better in the mirror than it does in photos. But I guess the camera doesn't lie.

Forgive the wiggly, fuzzy photos. There is a reason. Read about and see more quilts from the Golden Triangle Fabric Guild here and here. and here.

The passion play at The Holy Land Experience is the best you'll probably ever see. View this one large to see the detail in the faces. It's quite something. This is a very physical role for the young actor playing Jesus. I was quite impressed by his, and the rest of the cast's performance!

TOXIC HOME

arrrrrrrrrr

I'm SOO CUTE

Please forgive this one. I really could have done better, but I didn't really care, which kind of brings me to the subject at hand.

OK, I'm finding less and less time in my life for Flickr, and I'm really dry of inspiration right now. I have too many contacts to stay in touch with, so I've fallen out of touch with everybody. So I have decided to cut the number of my contacts from around 100 to 25. Then it won't be such an intimidating task. And since I don't even have 25 regular commenters I don't think I'll be hurting anybody's feelings. If you've been commenting you've "made the list."

Anyway, I'm gonna do that and hope that my enthusiasm returns soon.

for this piece i was thinking of the idea of forgiveness and its difuse powers as our fundemental dichotomy, the images surrounding the classic art matrix and its account of predecessors, greek and roman, although highly altered by the ONe god and polyglot paradigm shift, have always treated the theme of forgiveness as a devine research if not soley as theorey, i think this is because the principle motives of passion pass into an abstract that although grounded in common ethics gives way to the animal spirit, a theme highly touched apon if not in a subterfuge or purely grafic manner by the masters of art history. Social position although an interesting way of inesting powers in new ways and enviornments is highly circumstantial and i am learning that crappy grafitti holds up the same priciples of forgiveness and truth as say a 250 billion dollar painting by Felacio Botero Vin Deisil Visa co., forgivness and its resulting manipulation produce a very strong individual responsability to interpret reality with a tenderness unseen and unbought, something that is just there, able to do anything, this is art.
