This timber framed thatched cottage is situated in a village completely surrounded by the South Downs National Park, possibly one of the most scenic areas in the County of Hampshire.
The cottage was built circa 1600 and was probably a small yeoman farmhouse. It is now a grade 2 listed building which gives it legal protection from substantial alteration or development.
This photo was taken on an amazing morning in the Italian Dolomites. I went up to the hill between Tre Cime and Cadini di Misurina. A spot with impressive mountains in almost every direction. The conditions and light changed from minute to minute and made it possible to take so many different photos. Like this one which I call“ forge of light“. I’ve rarely seen such epic light.

An abandoned RV park sits about 0.25 miles (approx. 402 meters) from my home. Tall grass, a rusted chain and hook, a busted door, and a weather-worn sign are all that remain to let those who pass by know that, once upon a time, this was a resting spot for weary travelers.

a well stocked deli with lots of the old blacksmith equipment inside and a unique screen to comply with Covid 19 protection
blacksmith tools left outside in the weather, and (in my opinion, of course) looking all the better for it. =)
thank you for visiting.
This is An Teallach, shot as dawn breaks in the Highlands of Scotland.
An Teallach (pronounced An Chelluck) translates from Gaidhlig (Scots Gaelic) as 'the hearthstone of the forge', or simply The Forge. It gets its name from its sandstone which turns blood red when the first light of the dawn sun strikes the mountain in August. You have to be there to witness this, it only lasts about 15 minutes, but is one of the great sights of the Highlands. I camped out at Loch Toll an Lochan, the small loch high up in the mountains crucible just to see this sight. I rewarded myself with a wee nip of 25 year old malt whisky (just to keep out the morning chill). Slainte Mhath.

The main forge building at Wortley Top showing Hammer No 1 and the Crane. To the right of the image you can see a couple of railway wheels and axles. Just to the right, outside the building, is a large waterwheel - the main source of power.
Although iron was forged on the site since the early seventeenth century, the forge building is mainly 18thC - extensive alterations were made in 1713.
The ironworks are probably the oldest of its type in Yorkshire - and well worth a visit.

The atmosphere was very dramatic on the Grand Parade Ground early yesterday morning. I was fortunate enough to be there.
No processing here. Just a slight crop. It was as you see it!
Look for the line of geese that is on the right side, middle.
I was walking in the field in Valley Forge today and out of the corner of my eye I saw a funny movement in the tall weeds. Looking closer it had the movement of an inchworm. And then looking even closer it was an inchworm covered in little flowers. I took loads of pictures and then came home and looked him up and found that this particular inchworm bites off the flowers that he is eating and then using his spit sticks the flowers on his body to use as camouflage to protect him from predators. Just incredible nature.
What's up guys, here's my Hexxed set at Epiphany.

I like this old barn on the Philander Chase Knox Estate within Valley Forge National Park in Pennsylvania. Late on a Winter day it was all straight lines, bright surfaces and deep shadows.
Philander Knox was, at one time or another, U.S. Senator, Secretary of State, and Attorney General. Definitely an over-achiever. Even more significantly of course, General Washington over-wintered (and trained) the Continental Army not far away in 1777-78, while keeping a watch on the British, who were spending the off-season in Philadelphia 20-some miles to the south and east. Now the estate is mostly a venue for wedding parties. I do not know if the term "a philanderer" has any connection to this Philander.
