Logeman had served in the dual role of both 517th TRG Commander and Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center Assistant Commandant since June 2015. 17th Training Wing commander, Col. Michael L. Downs presided over the ceremony. 517th TRG was established in 2009 to provide local leadership for the 311th and 314th Training Squadrons located at the Presidio of Monterey as part of the 17th Training Wing headquartered at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, TX.

PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. -- Official U.S. Army Special Operations Command Parachute Demonstration Team, the Black Daggers, dropped in to Presidio's Soldier Field on Nov. 4 during the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center's 75th Anniversary Week celebrations. The team carried a special gift on their 6,000 foot jump, delivering a scroll announcing the award of the Joint Meritorious Unit Award to DLIFLC Commandant Col. Phillip J. Deppert. Students from the Presidio's military service units were on hand to witness the spectacle after spending the day participating in a Sports Day competition.

Here is my dilemma:

(remember, this photo was taken on the streets of Chicago (U.S.), where, to put it delicately, Romanian isn't necessarily the official language)

So... If you put up a sign that can not be understood by the exact same people you expect to obey (or at least consider) it... than... Why even bother?

And as a chronically curios type, that I am, I have to also ask myself:

If a Romanian driver comes along looking for a parking space that has just been taken by the innocent average American, who happens not to understand Romanian... what's next?

I guess you have to be there to see the expression on the faces of the two drivers while they try to explain to each other, why the other one is wrong...

On a somewhat related note... I probably shouldn't even pick on such insignificantly pedestrian details as the legitimacy of such a home-made, cardboard sign placed on public domain...

Oh, and to slightly elevate the fun level of this whole scene - for those, who might not be familiar with this:

The sticker on the back of the car in the above photograph suggests the remote possibility that the driver might be Hungarian...

PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. - A retirement ceremony attended by more than 250 faculty, staff, and distinguished guests was held for the provost of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, Dr. Donald Fischer, inside the Presidio's Tin Barn on Dec. 20. Fischer also served as DLIFLC commandant from 1989 to 1993 and is credited for placing a heavy emphasis on technology in the classrooms and in the hands of students and faculty.

The event featured a Vietnam War veterans recognition ceremony. Vietnam War lapel pins authorized by Congress were individually presented by POM Garrison Commander Col. Lawrence Brown and Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Roberto Marshall to approximately 75 Vietnam War veterans in attendance.
