The Ukrainians are stationed at their garrison nearby, and after spending a tense night anticipating a Russian attack following the expiration of a Russian deadline to surrender, in which family members of troops spent the night at the garrison gate in support of the soldiers, their commander Colonel Yuli Mamchor announced his bold plan this morning to retake the airfield by confronting the Russian-lead soldiers unarmed. The Russian-lead troops fired their weapons into the air but then granted Mamchor the beginning of negotiations with their commander. Russian-lead troops have blockaded a number of Ukrainian military bases across Crimea.
Armed Forces Day is Saturday June 25th 2011. It’s an opportunity to do two things. Firstly, to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. Secondly, it gives the nation an opportunity to Show Your Support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets.

The Carron Valley dam. After half a day in th Campsies scouting for a potential location, I managed to get 20 minutes between blizzards to try out a long(ish) exposure shot. First attempt at this type of shot so reasonably happy but I suspect I'll be trying again when (or perhaps if?) the weather improves.

October 3, 2025 - Canadian Forces Snowbirds performing the Finale at the Pacific Airshow 2025, Day 1, in Huntington Beach, California. This was the highlight of the entire Airshow! I am thankful that the Canadian Forces Snowbirds performed for us, because the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds were unable to perform for us due to the U.S. Government Shutdown situation.
