It was 9 degrees when I shot this. The Sandhills had been spending the night on a pond. I guess this guy wanted to take some of it with him.

One of many red-footed falcons (Falco vespertinus) wandering around in Finland right now. Normally a rarity here they have now made their way to us in probably thousands. Observing and photographing them has definitely been one of the year's highlights so far.
This will be my last post for a while as I'm off on a short trip.

This piece of art - entitled "The 100 Foot Line" stands behind the National Gallery of Canada on what is known as Nepean Point... a popular spot in Ottawa.
Dipper:-
A dipper with it’s chick waiting to be fed, hidden away at the foot of the waterfalls.
A short-tailed plump bird with a low whirring flight. When perched on a rock it habitually bobs up and down and frequently cocks its tail. Its white throat and breast contrasts with its dark body plumage. It is remarkable in its method of walking into and under water in search of food.

I love that big city feel sometimes. Everything working and humming away. People going in so many directions. Then there are the big buildings that house all these people and the windows into their lives.

I was quite surprised seeing this lovely goose with some Greylags locally it was the only one perhaps stopped off for some grass and then on to the Montrose basin, we gave it some duck food.

We saw this lifer only at one spot along the ring road. It seems that several couples dumped there gosling into a "nursery"
