The Ferry Building Marketplace is a people's marketplace serving residents and travelers alike. Located within the historic Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street, shops large and small celebrate food in all its forms, offering everything from artisan cheeses to the freshest of local fish.
I don't believe I recall this being a store, from earliest memory, meaning, it's not been a store since 1981, I would say.
I could be wrong. If it was an active store in 1981, I don't recall it. I think it's been NOT a store far longer than it was a store.

In August 2010 the upper parts of the building were being erected for the new Wickes' DIY store and a Netto discount foodstore on the former Brick & Tile factory site.
On target for completion by the end of the year.

On a drizzling afternoon they were waiting for their mistress outside a foodstore in Chelsea. At one time there were three pugs. Now I see that there are really only one and a half! I say this because sadly the black one must have had a stroke and had his hind legs paralised. These limbs are now helped by a contraption with two wheels which allow the poor creature to secure a certain degree of mobility. Don'y ask more questons it is too sad for words as it reflects the deep attachment, almost to the eccentric between man and animal.
I do not know why but this scene reminds me of a similar one in the movie "A fish called Wanda", except that there we have chihuahuas instead of pugs. But on reflection it could have been that the three pets who were reduced to half a contingent experienced the same incident as in the movie....
Beyond this I cannot help thinking that somewhere the local vet is doing a roaring trade out of all this misery and he may well have to treat very soon the other pug of liver failure.

A slight scattering of fallen leaves helps pinpoint this as an autumnal view of the Square shopping precinct at New Invention. The photo was taken in November 2006 when Rog and I visited the area at the beginning of our wander around Walsall. The shops on parade at the time included Unicut hairdressers, Alliance foodstores and Lloyds Pharmacy.

This is one charming little grocery store. Sadly, it appears to have closed just recently.

oh the typography of the olden days..
it's a crying shame to see these beautiful facades, not just here, but everywhere you look, getting smudged up by posters, ads & whatnot to promote multimillion businesses.
in this case the guilty parties,rema1000 & clas ohlson(respectively the largest foodstore chain in norway, & a sort of handyman's store where you find all sorts of crap)actually tried to tone down their message by removing the colors, leaving a silvery monogram more in key with the historical facade underneath.
well..all is peachy, & A for effort, but instead of slight adjustments like these, couldn't you guys just let it rest altogether?
i know where to find you by now..
