This place has been boarded up for as long as I can remember, but recently the bright orange "Best Buy" sign has been removed, revealing this fantastic old VG Foodstores branding. It would have looked something like this originally: flic.kr/p/ncpetD
This Provigo store in Dorval used to offer, like so many other Montreal-area stores, car order parcel pickup / commande à l'auto. The fact that they've kept a sizable number of car order bins probably means that this store uses the bins now for home delivery services.
The 50 m long section of straight belt in the basement of ex-A&P store 386, which was shuttered 10 years prior to the store's closing. The store today is Food Basics store #870.

This massive Italian food court was still under construction last Spring when you and your very lovely lady were vacationing on the Las Vegas Strip. You and your very lovely lady really enjoyed staying here in 2015 and 2016 when it was the Monte Carlo Hotel & Casino, so how well do you like this place now in 2019 as the Park MGM?
This is the Hotel Cabrillo in downtown San Pedro, not too far away from the waterfront.
With the bodega and saloon, this just seems like the perfect sailor's quarters.

Strange Co-op logo - it uses the 1968 oblong shape, the 1994 COOP style of logo but has a standard typeface instead of the custom designed one (how sad am I!)

The market for Afro Caribbean, intercontinental foods and beauty products must be strong in Benwell as directly opposite Kenichi foodstore is another seemingly Nigerian owned store, Chima (The same misspelling of shopfront words and virtually the same product line might suggest they're owned by the same poeple?). Again, a temporary paper sign is stuck to the window in (misspelt) Polish advertising 'Slovakia-Czech Polskie' products; once again this indicates that a significant Eastern European migrant population is resident in Benwell.
This cake was made to be eaten at a party of a support group for a young green parliament candidate. Many of the good things that all idealists love, are featured on the texts of the cake: demokracy, welfare, world peace, Vegetukku (a local vegan foodstore), architects, urban density, bilinguality and others.
St Ann's Gate, Manchester city centre.
A new superstore built at the corner of Market Street and St Ann's Gate, due to the destruction of its original store by the Manchester IRA bombing of 1996. The new building is claimed to be the largest M&S Store in the world, and has become the company's flagship store for the new millennium. Famed for its basic quality clothing, excellent foodstore and recent departure into home furnishing.
Attractive canal-side living on New North road, N1, the site of Michael Balcon's 1924 Gainsborough Studios which inter alia made Hitchcock films. These flats were erected in 2004 on the site of the old studios, which had utilised a former railway power station.
There is a Hackney Council brown plaque on the side of the building. Read about all the famous films made on this site here
The Old Town (Nice Vieux) offers a great choice on different foodstores. This is a very large one. Handwritten - on the yellow board to the left - "LE SANGLIER EST ARRIVE" - and you can see the sanglier (= wild boar) hanging down in the front. Lots of special offers for the christmas dinner. Venison is 13.90 Euros/kg. The cocks on the right still have the tail-feathers, what is a sign for the best qualitiy.

After the war, the Ten Acres & Stirchley Co-op opened a pre-fabricated grocery and butchery shop at Sidemoor, Bromsgrove- the store was an early purpose built self-service shop and is seen here in 2004, completely closed down. The business was franchised out for a short while but that didn't work out and I think the building may now be an off-licence of some sort. Note my old car alongside.....!
More steamed goodies on display on Yangshuo's historic West Street. Again, I could not identify what it was as the signage was in Chinese and the woman in charge moved away as soon as I raised my camera. But purple food? That reminded me of the purple hopia stuffing (hopia is a stuffed sweet pastry from the Philippines) and Ube flavoured milk shake I'd seen on Baker's Hill in Puerto Princesa in the Philippines back in 2013. Ube is flower used as a flavouring in the Philippines. The purple colour of the flower yields a pretty unusual colour to food and stuff flavoured with it turn out in this Unusual purple shade as seen here.
