We took stock of the preparations of "Heart of Asia" ministerial conference to be held in the holy city Amritsar on 2nd and 3rd December. This is the first time India has got the chance to host the conference during the course of which various events would be held concentrating on the challenge of terrorism in the heart of Asia region especially Afghanistan, countering extremism, exploring cultural and civilizational similarities, and Co-operation in educational sector. It is a matter of pride that Union Government has chosen Amritsar to hold this important conference. We are looking forward to host the sixth Heart of Asia (HoA) ministerial conference.

To maximize the potential of the state,Ministry of Food Processing Industries has sanctioned 3 Mega Food Parks and 5 Cold Chain in the state. Punjab government has enhanced the amount of Ex-gratia under the Ex-gratia Scheme due to accidental death/ 100% disablement of a registered construction worker from Rs. 2.00 Lakh to 4.00 Lakh. In case of natural death of registered construction worker, the amount under Ex-gratia scheme has been enhanced from Rs.1.50 Lakh to 3.00 Lakh and also proportionate increase thereof in the case of partial disablement on the basis of percentage of such disablement. Besides this the grant for the cremation has also been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000.

We held a meeting with the FPOs of Punjab to review their contribution in food preservation and processing. We also took inputs from them on how the rural masses/ farmers are benefitted by these FPOs. We also had in-depth discussion about the future plans of these FPOs.
Jain Irrigation Systems is setting up a Food Park in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs 365 crores. Andhra Pradesh government has allotted over 623 acres of land in December 2015 for setting up an integrated agriculture and horticulture park in Kurnool district of the state. The project would create regular employment of 400 persons and seasonal employment for another 1000 persons.

The company is also interested to set up an air-circulation plant, a lab and an academy that will train the personnel required for supporting food processing.

We distributed sports kits to the youth of Bucho Mandi to encourage them to excel in the field of sports. Punjab government has taken many initiatives to promote sports and has taken it to newer heights. Today Punjab has world-class stadia and training centres and the government provides financial assistance and govt jobs to the deserving sportspersons too.
