Aerial photography on a beautiful evening, has to be one of my favourite joys.
The low light of the sun catching the underneath of the birds wings is just perfect for photography.
Congratulations to this parent bird for distracting me so well, that this year I missed the chicks.

A 3 x 1 CP eastbound heads over the Mississippi River after meeting one westbound just around the corner at Humboldt. Fortunately, I can remember this spot this time of year as it really works well, regardless of the humdrum consist. The proper SD70ACU leader was the rear DPU.

Quarry Lakes Regional Park
Fremont, California
Greater Scaup and Lesser Scaup are hard to tell apart. In Lesser Scaup the crosshatching on the back usually extends to the sides, so these are most likely Greater Scaup. All four ducks in the photo are males. There were females in the group, but they didn't line up for me this nicely.
This is a lovely walk by the River Leam, with the towns church in the distance.

Looking up at the award-winning Sharp Centre for Design at OCAD University in Toronto. Although quite striking with the 12 multi-coloured, pencil-like supports, I downplayed the colour as to highlight the contrasting shapes, angles, light and textures with this capture.

Towards the end of one of our evenings, we found ourselves in Dean Village. A place of near-silence, it was as if we had left Edinburgh entirely. The water next to us passed making little sound and most of the windows were dark; the residents having been asleep for some time.

Another capture from my first encounter with snow this season. This is quite a typical path in the Black Forest, lined with tall fir trees. You can tell by the tracks in te snow that I wasn't alone out there. Several people, dogs and at least one hare had walked along that path before me.
A 1929 vintage rally muscle Buggati rolling down the tracks at the F1 Buddh International Circuit!

Am Anfang hält sich der Erpel noch wachsam in der Nähe des allein brütenden Weibchens auf, später schließt er sich mit anderen Erpeln zu sogenannten "Mausergruppen" zusammen und kümmert sich nicht mehr um die brütende Ente und spätere Aufzucht der Entenküken. Die "Enten-Ehe" ist damit beendet. Nachdem die Jungen aus den Eiern schlüpfen, verlassen sie das Nest bereits am ersten Tag ("Nestflüchter") und können sofort schwimmen. Die Mutter erkennt und unterscheidet ihre Kleinen unter anderem am "Gepiepse". Die Entenküken werden dann von ihr 50-60 Tage behütet und geführt.
