Macro Focus on MV Zuiderdam from Holland America Line in the Gatun Locks Panama Canal.
Well as my good friend Brad would say, "I have been going through my archives and found this!" This one was taken on one of my first trips to central Osceola County near Kenansville, FL. What a first day I had shooting the eagles. Just want to thank Danny Erdocio for taking me out that day!!!
This viaduct was built at Gotuwala between the two railway stations – Ella and Demodara during the British Colonial period is the largest in Sri Lanka. Located almost 3100 feet above the sea level, this 99.6ft high bridge is called “Ahas namaye palama” (Nine skies bridge) in Sinhala. When one stands underneath it and looks up there is a beautiful sight of ‘nine skies’ through the nine arches, hence the Sinhala name. This bridge is also called ‘The Bridge in the sky’ due to the sheer height.
This massive bridge is built entirely of solid rocks, bricks and cement without using a single piece of steel. The bridge was finally commissioned in 1921.
There is a popular story to say that when construction work was commenced on the bridge, the World War 1 broke-out and the steel consignment assigned for this site was seized and was used for war related projects. When the work came to a standstill the locals came forward and build the bridge with solid stone bricks and cement without steel.

Walked in to see the eldest playing monopoly with Nanny. The aim of the game is now not only to win, but to win with the most money ever!
We need the full fat monopoly now. The junior one doesn't cut it anymore.
I like gulls in flight on cloudy days. I took enough pictures of them. Now I plan to take pictures of small birds. I think I should be very patient for this and wait for hours until birds come to the branches of a tree. The trees near the rivers have more birds and nests. I need binoculars to look for birds and long lens. My longest lens is 150-600 with 1x4 teleconverter, which reach to 840mm if I mount in APS-C camera then it will reach to 1260mm, but it downgrades picture quality because of teleconverter and crop sensor camera. Back in 2019 Angela & Patrick welcomed me into the Focus group with a showing of my landscapes in their February 2019 issue and seriously you all, that's when I was still doing "fish eyes" :D I hope in this time I have improved a little, but I know for a fact I have been inspired by incredible artists like Charly Keeley-Keating, whom I've often told her she was my muse.
This morning when I opened the December issue of Focus, the story of winter's past brought tears to my eyes, as it was such a beautifully written memory of a child's splendor in the frosty eve of winter's from long ago, and reminded me that photos and artwork are a lasting tribute of a time long gone.
Also, I am humbled and honored that my images were added beside not only an incredible artist, but truly one of the most genuine, inspiring and beautiful women I have ever had the pleasure to know here in Second Life, Mrs Charly. It's been a tough two years, and we have seen and felt much loss. So my wish for us all is that we paint the sky purple, dance to our hearts content and laugh too loud as tomorrow is never promised.
Thank you Angela and the Focus Team for seeing what I always strived to convey and for supporting all the artists who came before and will come after, you all encourage us to see the beautiful creations creators build through our own rose-colored glasses and allow us to express ourselves through our art..I am truly honored.
Happy Holidays to all of you and thank you for your support over the years, it has meant more than you know.
I remember reading some time ago that the No 1 rule of bird photography was to make sure that the focus on the eye/s was in focus - I think I kept to that rule here......

Focused - Juvenile Bobcat gazes intently into the distance. Typically, we strive for direct eye contact in wildlife photography, but recently, I've grown to appreciate images where wildlife is focused on something else. There's a very natural feel to these images.

Another shot from the Ford Focus ST shoot, This was the last shot of the night, and it was quite different from the rest. The lighting is very selective, leaving the car some what spotlit in the shadows. Sort of looks like an animals eyes peaking out from the darkness right before striking.

The weather forecast predicts a nice morning and showers later today so I ran out early to a nearby street, one of the most picturesque in the city.
I first tried Focus Stacking but the results were awful, I put it in my photo stream should you be interested. Biggest problem is that the wind is rather strong so that the clouds are not cooperating with a focus stack.
Then I used a very small diaphragm and noticed on manual focus and focus assist that actually at F18 the whole picture is in focus. I did use a tripod to get a nice stable shot.
In post I upped the sky a bit although it was already very pretty. Very Dutch too....
Not a duplicate of the previous upload! This is focus bracketed (8 shots taken with different focus, and one picked out). Previous upload was a jpg produced from a focus-stacked jpg, whereas this is a jpg produced from a single raw. My analysis here is that for the extra detail added in the stacked image, some of that is unwanted (backscatter), and that I have to post-produce a jpg rather than a raw. Other observations welcome!
