This female must be within the first few days after emergence as the light coloured markings are still a creamy yellow and not yet turned to the yellow and green colours of the fully mature adult.
Marbled White have been thriving this year again and seem to settle long enough to let us take photos when these prickly thistles are in flower.

The male is much duller being a dusky soft brown or sooty grey in colour with very few black spots. Females are active by day but the Male is nocturnal.
Three Zebra Longwing butterflies cling to an orchid root. They usually find these roots a great place to spend the night. They remain here until the morning temperature warms a little and off they go to start their day among the flowers in my garden and elsewhere.
