Shame this is not sharper but beggars can't be choosers. Apparently it's a ichneumon wasp on the flower and another kind of insect in flight ( I.D. please if anyone knows)

This White Admiral butterfly watched every move I made.

In my personal opinion, orange goes very well with pink and green. Don't you just love color? I do!

This lovely female monarch is sipping nectar from one of several crepe myrtle blooms. You can tell she is a she because she does not have the visible pheromone pouches on her lower wings like the male monarchs do.

The image to the left of this one is of a male monarch for comparison.

The image to the right is of two females that seem to be enjoying the crepe myrtle blooms. Although, that didn't last long because the boys were circling and requesting their company. Both girls were married before I left the yard.

Have a wonderful day and happy snapping.

Like diamonds in the sky, when these beautiful gulf firtillaries flit about on a sunny day, the silvery spots look like little diamonds.

Orange Sulphur Butterfly (Colias eurytheme)

The only Painted lady butterfly i've seen so far this year. Last year was a bumper year, they were everywhere.

Coccinella Semptempunctata.

I have been seeing several queens in the yard as of late. I hope to raise a few in protective custody. I did collect eggs when I saw a female laying them on the milkweed. However it's impossible to tell if I collected queen eggs or monarch eggs. Perhaps I got some of each. Regardless, I will know in a few days.

I wonder if the person that named the queens gave any thought to the fact that some of them would be boys. I am always calling all queens she and that goes for ladybugs too. I really don't know how to tell the difference between a boy and girl ladybug :)

With queens, like the monarch, you can tell the male from the female by the little raised dots (pheromone pouches) on the lower wings. Boys have the dot and girls don't.

Have a wonderful day and happy snapping.
