Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula)

Spaghetti serving spoon (Servientes cochleari var. spaghetti)

This population of Venus Flytraps occur near Apalachicola National Forest (there are also populations in the forest proper), however they are not a native plant. I still enjoy stopping by to see and photograph them.
One of my Plant x Insect series for an all-female, all analog art exhibition, Flora at Land in Portland, OR in August - October! Curated by a talented artist, Susie Ghahremani (boygirlparty).
植物x昆虫シリーズの内のひとつ(痛そう)。8月末から始まる米ポートランドのLand Galleryの展覧会に新作5点出品します。
Also known as Indian Hemp and Flytrap, there are only 4 species within this genus. The interesting assortment of common names stems from the following: Dogbane is somewhat self-explanatory in that it was known as a dog poison in very olden days. Indian Hemp (no, not that kind) because its very strong fibers were utilized to make baskets, rope, fishing nets, etc. And finally, Flytrap because the five sensitive scales (clearly visible above) inside the 1/4 inch (5mm) flower secrete a sweet liquid attractive to flies, and snap shut entrapping them when triggered.
Apocynum is also a member of the digitalis group of cardiac tonics, and is generally recognized to be the most powerful in slowing the pulse.
Bargain browsing on BrickOwl.com led me to modestly priced Lime bricks, which led me to this... The Venus Brick Trap, watch your fingers!
Like your regular venus flytrap, only this one jumps out at random, and sometimes breaths fire.
my 22nd build for my Iron Builder against Jimmy Fortel, the seed part is the foils (16 used)
Enjoy!

My annual spring photo of the beautiful (but slightly sinister) wild arum lily... which is a devilishly elaborate fly trap.
The highly poisonous arum maculatum has many names. You may know it as lords and ladies, cuckoo-pint, arum lily, snakeshead, adder's root, arum, wild arum, devils and angels, cows and bulls, soldiers diddies, priest's pintle, Adam and Eve, bobbins, naked girls, naked boys, starch-root, wake robin, friar's cowl, sonsie-give-us-your-hand, jack in the pulpit and cheese and toast.

My entry for #biocup2019 round 1: solar system. My theme is Venus, so this build is supposed to represent the birth of Venus, alien goddess of Love on planet Venus. Born from a venerian venus flytrap.

This is actually an echinacea (cone flower) growing in my garden. Something clearly has gone horribly awry. But it makes a nice picture.
Droplet of the glue substance on the tips of my Venus flytraps small shoots, taken with my camera lense reversed.
Like chicks waiting to be fed, this plant waits for live bait.
Need help with ID. This is a carnivorous plant photographed in Costa Rica's Bosque de Paz cloud forest. I've viewed 28 pages of carnivorous plants, but was unable to find this one.
Have a correction; this is a Stelis pilosa as identified by Bill Tanneberger.
The perfect trap. A delicate dance of life and death unfolds as my Venus fly trap captures its prey. Nature’s efficiency in vivid detail.
My pet venus flytrap inserted into the morgue at North Wales Hospital (aka Denbigh Lunatic Asylum), with some bits added and a few filters....
I believe this flower threesome belong to the sweet pitcher plant (Sarracenia rubra). These were growing in Stanley Rehdar Garden in Wilmington, North Carolina during the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust's Flytrap Frolic 2017 event.
There is only one species of the Venus flytrap but there are many different forms and mutations in cultivation. In this one the "teeth" on the edge of the trap have mutated into small sharp blades like those of a saw. Nice! The distribution of the red pigment cells in the trap can also be seen in this macro image
