I followed this specimen through the scrub near the Chapel Santa Maria at Lebena. A burst of shots at a high shutter speed captured this picture, mid-flutter, giving a good view of the colouration on its abdomen.
This was taken with my Lensbaby Muse and Nikon D200.
A Butterfly Hovers Closely
A butterfly hovers closely
And then quickly moves away,
Swiftly going where so ever
Her heart may freely say.
A butterfly lowers and rises
With the winds's gusty breath,
As if coupled within a dance
Of a loving tenderness.
The butterfly only knows
How it feels to have wings,
To kiss the petals of flowers
In such elegant flitterings.
To have but one moment
Of such an exquisite flight,
Would be like a dream
Where all seems so right.

I made this cute Valentine card using Paper Smooches Giddy Bugs, Pip Squeaks, and Primary stamp sets; Jolly Holiday collection patterned paper, (Recollections brand from Michael’s); Marvy Uchida punch (heart); Recollections punches (small heart and small flower); Spellbinders die; Stampin’ Up ink, embossing folder, and pink and yellow cardstock; Wiggly Eyes, and Ranger Archival Ink.
Despite his best efforts at courtship, she was not receptive to his amorous dance. He fluttered above her enticingly to no avail; poor guy.

Spent the evening at the South Korean Ambassador's House to celebrate Foundation Day (I believe the founding of the republic). The girls were from the Korean (Saturday?) school in town.
I happened to have my camera in my hands when I went into the kitchen and peeked out the back door....I like the way their wings look like they're hummingbirds..
