Happy to get the nice tall jets with this liquid mixture.

Surface of small stream, with major color adjustments! Convection cells acting as small lenses, see another photo "Tiny Lenses".

the beautiful world of fluid dynamics :: a study

Seen in the streambed of Winter Camp Wash in Arches National Park. The vertical length of the scene is aout 3 feet (90 cm).

This immediately reminded me of a tall statuesque lady, in long skirt, cape and hat with either a scarf blowing behind her, or an umbrella with its fabric blown away!

Another from the same series as the previous shot. I was surprised to find a reflection of the rim splash in the upper bowl! It was the only one of several similar shots to have the reflection.

I had no idea what to call this one! But I love the shape and colors.

a finely balanced droplet

important even when drifting sideways

It was a productive evening the other night, and was able to change shapes by tweaking numbers. This is the final one I'll post from this series. Ha! Maybe I should make a triptych of the last three shots! :)

nature dreaming up new patterns and shapes

took this one just now - uploaded while eating my lunch! Hope you enjoy it.

new form start up; shapes evolve fast

new creature evolves

This just reminded me of some sort of Goth gaming chair that you might see in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion!

Another from my series a few nights ago.

on the way to becoming stardust again

what goes around comes around

I was playing around today with some acrylic paint I bought. I had no idea about dilution, etc. I was trying to see how the colors blended, and I was happy about what I achieved, but I was surprised to find a bunch of flakes in the center of this collision. I have no idea where they came from.

the full size version of this one. It's called this partly because it reminded me of Holbein's painting 'The Ambassadors', with its anamorphic skull form in the foreground.

Also I saw the central part as a spaceform coming to visit us.
