fiori dal giardino della mamma

A few days ago, my fiance asked if we had any plans for Friday. I said no, and we made plans to see a movie. Then, the day of, during the day, he asked if we could stop by the New Brunswick bars to meet up with some of his friends. Sure, why not! And hey, if good times were to be had, we didn't even need to leave for the movie. :)

So Friday night, we walk into Evelyn's - though technically not into since it's an outdoor bar, and I get hit with a huge "SURPRISE!!!"

A bunch of my friends and old co-workers got together and gave me a belated birthday surprise, since most of them couldn't make it to the earlier get-together.

It was an awesome surprise! Again, part of a great birthday year.

[Project 365 - Day 166]

Pink hibiscus showing flower parts up close

I decided to take a few last pictures of this arrangement before they went to the compost heap. These were taken 9 days after the first lot.

Close up of three tulip flower with stamens and pistil.

Lilacs are a kind of seed plant. The pink/purple part of the lilacs are the petals. The petals attract pollinators like humming birds, butterflies, bees, etc.. The darker center part of the petals is the stamen. The green seen below and in between the petals are stems that raises the leaves towards sunlight in order to conduct photosynthesis.
