P/s :This image speacial dedicated to my friend ICE FREEZE[http://www.flickr.com/photos/40438552@N02/] nice to know you and happy sunday to all my flickr friends.

Early evening stop during a road trip along Great Ocean Road outside of Melbourne, September 2014.

It's icy out and my students have cancelled classes, so I'm revisiting some old images. I've learned a lot of subtle photoshop skills in the last couple of years, and can bring out more of what I was originally going for. These don't look wildly different than the original, just a bit better.

Muse, Feeling Good

Whatever your view of world events, there's no doubt that things are about to get....somewhat interesting. But here's the thing- whatever happens in the next few months and years, the sun will always rise in the East (except in Australia where it rises in the West, of course) and the tides will continue their endless cycle. At least for a while.

So, kick off your wellies, grab a cocktail and you know..just go with the......

JMT DAY 29 - VIEW OF MT. WHITNEY FROM TIMBERLINE LAKE

View of Mt. Whitney from Timberline Lake

The first place to spot Mt. Whitney is Timberline Lake. Of course, there might be a bit of glimpse before reaching this lake, but Timberline Lake, where camping is not allowed, offers a pretty spectacular view of the tallest peak in the contiguous U.S and its reflection in the water.

On our snack break here, we enjoyed the warmth of the sun while taking some photos. The clouds that lingered over Mt. Whitney and the ridge flowed like a river. The winds stirred the water often, so the reflection of the clouds was not as fancy as I hoped, but then again, I was simply glad that there was even clouds in the picture.

We literally could have stayed here for hours, but Hitchcock Lakes, our destination, which I was super excited about, awaited. Of course, before that, we would stop by Guitar Lake, which would offer another pretty darn good view of the Great Western Divide in the west.

We packed up our gear and started marching toward Mt. Whitney.

Deep in the Serpis Valley the Rio Serpis flows over a weir near Lorcha / L'Orxa, Alicante, Spain.

One of my last shots from the Narrows in Zion National Park. The crowds really thin out the deeper you go into the Narrows. I think this was about 3 miles in from the start of the Narrows. Finding compositions in the Narrows is a lot fun. This shot is one of my favorite water flow shots I've taken. Nice water curves wrapping around the rocks really makes this my favorite image from the Narrows. We didn't finish the the Narrows until 6 or 7pm, so the light was a lot darker and cooler than some of my earlier shots.

There was only a small swell at Palm Beach this morning for the Focus shoot, at times the ocean was as flat as a lake. But every now and them the swell would come back and create some nice flow through the channels and around the rocks.

Great catching up with everyone this morning.

I got a polarizer filter today. I love it. It was so sunny out today. If I did not have it, there was no chance of taking photos at high noon.

looking deep, very much influenced by the wonderful work of travellingmac. Please look at his wonderful stream

900 m³/s thunder down the Rhine Falls during the June 2024 flood, while the first rays of sunlight of the day will illuminate Laufen Castle. This means that the Rhine Falls will temporarily surpass the Sarpsfossen in Norway and become Europe's most water-rich waterfall.

Another shot from an icy morning at Great Falls Park.

A little bit much on the contrast for this shot, but I thought it fit the scene.

Have a great weekend and thanks for looking!

The flowing curves of this building caught my attention immediately. I wanted to capture its dynamic energy and showcase how modern architecture can feel alive, with its play of lines and light.

Wied il-Ghasri, Gozo, Malta.

Wied il-Ghasri has its source at Dbiegi Hill. It winds its way through Ghasri between Zebbug and Giordan Hill and flows into the sea between very high impressive cliffs. Wied il-Ghasri is very popular with divers who like to explore the surrounding underwater caves. The very narrow bay is a haven for those who seek a quiet bathing area.

I just returned from a conference that I extended into a little photography in beautiful Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This image was taken while wading hip-deep into some cold water. The angle just wasn't possible from the bank.
