This is what I see from my new home in Ankara..quite often with flocks of birds foraging around for food on the fields opposite me.
And I'll soon be 'in the direction'' of Istanbul as we have a long religious holiday. Before leaving,I'll try to catch up as much as possible, albeit slowly..sorry if I cannot catch up with everybody. But sooner or later,I will..you know that:)
Wish you a wonderful week:)

A few days before Christmas, an overnight snowfall left several inches of snow and trees caked with the white stuff, setting the scene for an eastbound freight rolling through CP Maumee, just east of Toledo, Ohio with Canadian National power.

After multiple days of snowfall, the Hugo Job trudges through Roseville with 10 cars in tow. I was looking for snowbank busting, but nothing interesting occurred as the train slowly headed north.
I was capturing this large moon as it was clearing the horizon. As I was about to trip the shutter there was this small flock of Cormorants approaching, so I waited till they were in the frame and caught this image.

I found this photo, one of several I took back in April of 2023, during our tour of an Irish sheep farm. This image captures an important instinct of the sheep. It’s called flocking. It is an inbred social instinct the sheep use to protect themselves from predators. In this instance, the working border collie has positioned itself, following it’s herding them to this spot, then upon the whistle command of the herder, plops down, the sheep instantly group together with the front three showing hindquarters to the border collie. At this juncture of the herding process, the herder is ready to whistle a command for the border collie or, most likely, the border collie will initiate a move to push the group to the appropriate location. Fascinating stuff!!
The past few mornings I've been out, large flocks of blackbirds have been moving through the fields in the morning. i love how their wings catch the early morning sun as they all fly together to the next feeding area.

Stary Rynek
While wandering through the Rynek this morning I turned the corner and at first thought these two were being attacked, but then I realized they are just getting married! Congratulations to you both. This is not my usual photo and I am not in any way a wedding photographer, but I couldn't resit shooting either........just too good to pass! Kudos to the real wedding photographer!
