The evening of the Thai Poosam is the famous float in the Tank of the Mylapore Kaapaleeswarar temple. The float and the Mandapam in the tank is richly decorated with lights which make a exciting sight to watch. The reflections on the water is an added treat, with the tank being full of water now a days !!

"In this exotic entry, Sierra Madre recreates a classic Bollywood wedding scene. The bride rides in a "dholi" (rhymes with "holy") carried by twelve men. Her groom follows atop an ornately adorned elephant. Bollywood dancers portraying wedding guests perform alongside the float to the beat of a contemporary Bollywood soundtrack. Six real waterfalls cascade over lush floral gardens. The design incorporates both Muslim and Hindu influences in recognition of India's cultural diversity. Due to the demanding nature of this design, volunteers began construction during the first week of March, 2008."
These are really old floats. Some fishermen call them "bobbers" because of the way they bob up and down in the water. The dark brown, round one is cork and probably the oldest. The others are plastic styrofoam, or balsa.

This Slow Stick was modified from stock. It had a brushless motor with a lithium polymer battery, counter-balanced elevator with "floppy drive"-style hinges, floats, clipped and reinforced wing, and servos set more rearward than normal.
I think I read somewhere that there are more small planes in Alaska than cars. Well I can say these float planes were landing and taking off every couple of minutes. I think most of them were carrying tourists for a little sightseeing.

All of our rafts are tied together to form a float-tilla which we strap a motor to the back of and use to motor out the last 30-40 miles of the Diamond Down stretch of the Colorado River.
This little trailer followed the Aladdin float.
Mickey's Soundsational Parade was fun to watch. The cast were wonderful, full of energy even on a day that reached 95 degrees. I didn't care for the music, which took songs from various Disney movies and made it all sound the same.

This boat race marks the anniversary of the Great Flood of 1980 on the Ganaraska River at Port Hope, Ontario. Canoes, kayaks and "crazy craft" race 10k down the "Ganny" (it would defifitely be christened that in Liverpool too). Prizes are given for fastsest, best fancy dress, craziest craft, most people on a craft etc.
Canadians were unaware that "fanny" means something else this side of the pond!
