My friend Amy sent me these flip flops in 2004 right before I got married. She'd ordered a pair for her wedding and was mistakenly sent an extra pair. I delighted in these flip flops. On the bottom of the right it says "Just" and the left "Married." They made their mark in the sands of Hawaii's beaches during my honeymoon, up and down the coast of California multiple times, and at least one cross country trip to visit my family in Northern Virginia. Eventually they reached the nirvana of flip flop fit where the shoe perfectly, accommodating the contours of my foot. Even the thong gave up resistance, resting just so between my toes.
And so I am still wearing them regularly five years later despite the many helpful people who point out that I've been married long enough to discontinue their use. Besides, black goes with everything.
