BUFFLEHEADS IN FLIGHT-12210277
I very rarely try to capture in-flight shots - because I still haven't practiced with my point-and-shoot camera, ha. I did quickly shoot this one, of a beautiful adult Bald Eagle flying overhead when we were on a walk in Weaselhead on January 8th. I think it's just about fit to be posted, just for the record, despite the total lack of feather detail : ) Always love to see those wing tips.
Elementary school students, from across the Black Hills, attempt to fly simulated radio controlled airplanes at South Dakota State School of Mines and Technology during Flight Night on February 3, 2014. Flight Night is one of the many programs hosted onthe School of Mines campus that allow youth to explore concepts in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
This image was taken at Troup Head. It is a lovely part of the coast and is fairly easy to access. I hope to go back soon, just got to find a dry day when I am off work - should be easy as it is summer after all !!

The first thing that greets you (apart from extreme heat!) at Malta Airport is this wonderful sculpture by Celia Borg Cardona and Francesca Balzan. I loved the feeling of movement and the shadows cast by the figures and felt compelled to find out more about it. Finally... I've joined the ranks of Photoshop-er's. I'm a happy camper.:P I love seeing the clouds from above. I haven't flown too many times in my life, but I'm kinda awestruck every time by what I see. I don't get how people can sit there with their shade closed and sleep when there's this sea out there, the sea in the sky. You only get to experience for a few hours at a time, and even at that for the general population a few times a year at best. For those few minutes, you've gone somewhere else... somewhere barren yet beautiful. You feel like the ruler of this comfy kingdom where the sun ALWAYS shines. Take my advice: Fly... just to fly, for the sake of flying.

A large goose, with a distinctive black head and neck and large white throat patch. An introduced species from N America, it has successfully spread to cover most of the UK. It forms noisy flocks and is often regarded as a nuisance in areas where large numbers occur on amenity grassland and parks.

The flight sequence was piloted by Kermit Weeks who owns the place (his colleciton.) He's so enthusiastic he seems to want to be there all the time.
One second these geese were enjoying their time on the golf course and the next they were all in flight. Maybe a fake coyote scared the off. It was cool.
Missed my flight from Chicago to Vancouver last night because of the delay from Indianapolis. I was very lucky (much more than a few hundred) that there was a plane from CHI to YVR that had been delayed 4 hours because of maintenance issues, and so I was able to get onto it 90 minutes later. Arrived back at YVR, went to a hotel and checked in after midnight local time, after 3 am Indy time ... but, home.
