Made with Image Creator from Microsoft Designer, formerly known as the Bing Image Creator. Powered by DALL·E 3.

I think that AI image generation is similar in many ways to photography. The camera itself handles all the fine details, but the photographer is in charge of curating the types of images that will be created.

Ultimately, it is all about maximizing the probability that something good will be created.

This is very similar to AI image generation, in terms of the skills involved and what the human does vs. what the machine does.

You can't compare AI image generation to the process of actually making these images from scratch with 3D software or paint/pencils, where the human controls every detail.

However, I think the process really is very similar to that of photography, as I made the case for above. I think that DALL-E 3 is by far the most powerful AI image generation tool currently available.

Palermo, the vibrant capital of Sicily, has long stood at the crossroads of civilizations, playing a vital role in Mediterranean history. Its golden age flourished under my direct ancestors—Roger II and Frederick II Hohenstaufen, two visionary rulers who transformed Sicily into a beacon of cultural fusion, tolerance, and innovation.

Roger II, crowned King of Sicily in 1130, unified the island and established Palermo as a cosmopolitan capital. He embraced the talents of Arab, Greek, and Latin scholars and artisans, commissioning masterpieces like the dazzling mosaics of the Palatine Chapel, which remain iconic symbols of Norman-Arab-Byzantine artistry. His reign laid the foundation for a uniquely Sicilian identity—rich in diversity and artistic excellence.

Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Sicily, carried that legacy forward in the 13th century. Known as Stupor Mundi (“Wonder of the World”), Frederick cultivated a court in Palermo that became a cradle of learning and legal reform. He played a pivotal role in the early development of the Italian language, supporting poets of the Sicilian School whose refined vernacular would later influence Dante and the literary canon of Italy.
