One overcast March day back in 1974, when I worked at the Jane Hodge Holiday Home, we took the youngsters on a visit to the sand dunes at Merthyr Mawr, which is a vast area of natural dune and scrubland adjoining the Glamorgan heritage Coast. The kids had a whale of a time running up and down the dunes and riding on the sand sledges, for days afterwards we were still finding sand in their pockets, shoes and wellington boots.
The last in this set and Brian charges down the dune on a sand sledge whilst David waits his turn. OK, I've cheated here and added a sky, but it helps to balance the photo a little without that huge expanse of blankness.
From 1968 to 1974 I worked at the Jane Hodge Holiday Home at Trerhyngyll in the Vale of Glamorgan. The home was dedicated to providing short term "holidays" or respite care for disabled children of all abilities. Some of the youngsters were severely disabled, others not so, indeed sometimes it was hard to tell they had any form of disability at all. During my time at the home I took over 400 colour slide photographs and have about three times that number of black and white negatives as well as some 8mm ciné film. On another day we returned to the dunes where the youngsters played in the little stream which I have already shown you in another set.

1ère édition de la Rocamburlesque Cup !!!
Le dimanche 4 juin, à partir de 11h aura lieu au stade Duguay Trouin un tournoi de football pas comme les autres !!
En effet seul le beau jeu et le plaisir est à l'honneur en cette journée ! Le jeu ira bien au delà de l'enjeu pour ce tournoi.
Réservé aux amoureux du ballon rond, aux footeux (et fans de Foot) qui ont vibré devant les fantasques Ronaldinho, Zizou, Raul et consorts, pour les personnes qui ne connaissent qu'un seul Ronaldo, le véritable, pour les joueurs qui auraient souhaité avoir une carrière précise, celle de Georges Best...
Ce tournoi est finalement réservé aux amoureux du ballon et toute les choses POSITIVES qui gravites autour !!
Ce tournoi est bien sûr ouvert à tous le monde, les rugbymans, handballeurs, et autres sportifs sont la bienvenue !!
Le tournoi débutera à 11h30 sous une formule championnat permettant de jouer un maximum de matchs, la finale se jouera aux alentours de 19h30.
Suite à ce tournoi, profitant du fait que le lendemain soit férié, une soirée Burger sous une grande tonnelle avec musique clôturera cette belle journée.
Les personnes ne participantes pas aux tournois sont elles aussi conviées à cette soirée, il vous suffira de réserver vos places (10€ par personne) pour profiter de l'événement.
*Pour faciliter l'organisation, merci de réserver vos places en avance, lors de l'inscription au tournoi par exemple*
De nombreuses animations accompagneront la journée et la soirée (nous avons pensé aux personnes qui ne souhaitent pas participer au tournoi pour diverse raison #PiedsCarrés mais qui souhaiteraient tout de même se joindre à l'événement pour le plaisir des yeux...) avec des animations ventriglisse par l'association "Slip'n Slide 51", des animations palets par l'association affiliée à la FFPPB (Fédération Française de Palais sur Planche en Bois) qui nous fait l'honneur de se déplacer de Paris avec son Président, son secrétaire et sa Présidente d'honneur, afin de nous faire une petite démonstration, mais aussi en fin de journée un tournoi de Beer Pong, etc...
Est compris dans l'inscription du tournoi, le repas du midi (galette saucisse frite) par joueur.
Le tournoi aura lieu sur le terrain d'honneur (en herbe) de Duguay Trouin, nous jouerons sur demi terrain, le nombre de joueurs est de 6 + un gardien + 2 remplaçants.
Concernant les lots, notre partenaire "Le Comptoir" fournira la totalité de nos récompense.
Seront récompensé :
L'équipe remportant la ROCAMBURLESQUE CUP
L'équipe la plus Rocamburleque (Fair Play, déguisements, humour,...etc)
La joueuse ou le joueur le mieux habillé (Thème de cette année "les tenues de footballeur des années 80")
+ de nombreux lots distribués au cours de la journée (100ème but du tournoi, la meilleure célébration, mise en place d'un fil rouge,...etc)
Je pense que vous avez bien compris l'esprit de cette journée, en espérant vous voir nombreux, nous attendons avec impatience vos inscriptions (faites vite nous clôturerons nos inscription à 16 équipes, cet événement à part se remplit déjà très vite...)

I know, I know, the girl who regularly coats herself in paint, and corn syrup, and weird makeup, and whatever random crap she can get her hands on has decided to go rather subtle when prompted to be colorful...I just felt like going over the top would be kinda expected at this point. Annnnd, y'know, I didn't really feel like dealing with a mess when I'm supposed to be getting ready for bed so I can get up in a couple hours and be cheerful and energetic while working a holiday weekend.

I'm taking a short Flickr vacation. See you all in May.

Making wishlists is a bit of a joke to me... Why? Because I always make wishlists, and then when wishes are fulfilled, I keep on making more wishlists. But I have to say, part of the fun of the hobby is to keep on dreaming! Aspirations make me feel happy! (Does that sound weird?)
I also like wishlists because they are a nice way to collect my thoughts about what I like. I like to refer to them to see how my tastes have changed and developed. This is my first time having a wishlist without having a Kenner on it! I guess that means my Kenner family is complete :)
1. Chaoskatenkosmos custom - oh how I ache for one of Kati's girls. She is the only customiser that makes me want a custom RBL more than any other mould!! I dream... I dream...
2. Meimei FBL custom - Meimei makes the cutest FBL customs! I hope one day she will make me a doll as cute as Sesame :)
3. Erica Fustero custom - Well... I have to say, I no longer have a Erica custom anymore! My mini me now belongs to my boyfriend. What better excuse to get another Fustero girl? I want an EBL or FBL custom.
4. Smiley Tiina custom - I have to laugh at this wish... because when Tiina made Robin for me she asked me whether I wanted a smiley custom instead of a sad one. At the time I said "are you serious? I only like sad looking girls!" Oh how I wish I did things differently then. I think Camembear's girl convinced me Tiina's smiley girls are as good as her sad ones (if not better).
5. Sad Vainilladolly custom - I have come to accept that this dream will probably never happen! Vainilladollies are more elusive than ever. My only hope before was a commission. I have 3 happy girls so I think I want a sad girl to balance things out. But looking at pictures is OK for me too. ;)
6. Happy Gominola custom - Another dream that appears in every one of my wishlists and will probably never happen. And I am pretty sure every single flickr person wants to own Violeta!
7. Alpaca reroot for blythe - hoping to try new things out this year with an alpaca reroot for one of my dolls... now just to decide what colour.
8. Plastic Fashion dresses - as long as Laura keeps on making these beautiful little works of art, I will keep on wanting more! :D
9. Confetti bear BC hat - I dream of a pink or a yellow one! Hopefully one day I will be able to commission one :)
