I saw a red-tail in a tree
I stopped the car the camera and me
I pointed a 600 mm just to see
Panic ensued as i watched it flee.
Last week, during the "swallowtail shoot", this butterfly decided to leave the withered clover and fled to the nearby barley field. Maybe he thought he was sufficiently camouflaged there?
For a few minutes and a few pictures, he lingered on the corn ear on the edge of the field, before going out into the new day.
Letzte Woche während des "Schwalbenschwanz-Shootings" entschied sich dieser Schmetterling, die vertrocknete Kleeblüte zu verlassen und flüchtete in das nahe Gerstenfeld. Vielleicht glaubte er, dort ausreichend getarnt zu sein?
Für wenige Minuten und einige Bilder verweilte er auf der Getreideähre am Rande des Feldes, bevor es in den neuen Tag hinaus ging.

Every morning I saw flocks of these cool little birds. It was tricky getting close to them because they seem to all flee simultaneously when one would take off. They reminded me of the bushtits here in California. I got some close ups in this soft light and golden light in the end. :) Click image for slightly better clarity.
Daisy Fleabane is an annual native species of aster found in Michigan (as well as other States). Its name "fleabane" refers to an early usage of its flowers which, when dried, supposedly repelled fleas.

Horses are deeply social animals and feel secure in groups because isolation causes anxiety. They have a prey instinct and their response to perceived threats is to flee, making them easily startled by unfamiliar sights, sounds, or smells.
The sun is growing weak. Light flees, colour draining
in the half light. The bog waits ahead, to the darkening east.
I will flee to my "country house" tomorrow and will have less internet but more to do in the yard instead of being almost locked up in a city apartment without a balcony. Keep your photos coming, I'm looking forward to them!

HOP-A-LONG flying away from his dinner post with forensics stuck to his talons. we all can guess what he was up to.
today I actually saw 2 Cooper's hawks here at my feeders. Only very briefly though. Fingers crossed they will team up and nest nearby.
Notice how I even got his eye in the shot, even though he's flying away? Whooo! Hooo! Sometimes it's just fun to give yourself a "thumbs up"
Me thinks everyone's getting tired of HOP-A-LONG. Well, I'm not, LOLO!!
