so i was cutting the grass earlier when i uncovered this flashlight. i picked it up expecting it to be ruined. to my surprise it clicked right on like it had been sitting i a drawer waiting for use.
so, if any of you are looking for a good quality flashlight, i'd buy a Smith & Wesson.
oh, if i had to guess, this flashlight as been out there for several months at least. one side is even faded by the sun.
My class got the opportunity to take pictures in this abandoned bank, which was really cool. We had strobes with battery packs, but in my group we went through like 3 batteries since they kept dying....so instead of using the strobe we decided to use my little LED keychain flashlight to light each other for pictures. This is what I got, it's extremely noisy, i know, but other than that I think it's pretty neat.

Because I was living in Egypt at the time, I always wanted to get photos that showed something other than standard tourist stuff. The relationship between the people of Egypt today and all of the temples and monuments of ancient Egypt seemed muddy to me. In this shot, all I did was pull the focus back to the flashlight in the tour guide's (AKA modern Egyptian) hand.
The boat in the image was one of those funeral boats that was supposed to take the spirit of the deceased, or his supplies, to wherever he was going in the afterlife. Hope that worked out for him.
I don't remember exactly where this was taken, but it may have been at Abu Simbel.
My first time trying out light painting. The environment was nearly optimal due to the lack of background light.
Idah's daughter.
One of a series of shots taken for her family's album. (She was so small I had to sit on the floor in front of her; I'd use a different lens to the 50mm next time to get better DoF.) These produced great prints on white matte paper.
It seems to have taken forever but I think I've hit on an adequate, quick to set-up, flash lighting set-up for this room. One Flash placed around 5-10ft from subject vertically bounced off the ceiling; second flash unit 15-20ft away bounced at an angle off the ceiling.
Using a flashlight, the senior monk fits the rolled prayers into in the head of the Buddha. The statue is completely filled with great care.
Single SB900 bounced vertically off the ceiling, positioned about 5ft from Ruth. Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens; tripod mounted etc. White door used as backdrop. Post in Photoshop. NB: Appearance of skin tones will depend on the quality of your monitor.

Because I'm shooting Ruth L quite often now (she loves modelling for the camera and has a lot of creative ideas of her own) I've started a set, just for shots of her:

Found a six-pack of these at the Home Depot and thought they'd make good lighting assistants for future projects. They start by posing for a group photo and light themselves for it to boot.

These were done indoors, with a flashlight. This time, I'm moving the flashlight while the camera was stationary.
I found myself at an antique store browsing with my family and my parents. This flashlight caught my attention because it was retro/cool looking and a beast. Price tag of 35$ I thought initially was a little high. I pondered a bit then decided that for some reason I'm called to it and I'm sure it wouldn't take much to make it useable.
I have a replacement LED bulb I hope will work in it. It should arrive soon.
From some quick research, I think this Eveready Captain flashlight is from the 1960's. Also, the company stamped on the bottom is where my in-laws worked in the late 70's. Seems these flashlights captures a fair amount of interest, too.
