This is the woman I was talking about. Who is this? It's the same as in my sister's flashlight, and it's a bit of a mystery to us. Now, we know you get some strange stuff at the trinket stores (that's why we buy our presents there - it's fun), and it could be that this is just some woman they found a photo of and just decided to put in there, but why go through all that trouble? Maybe you're supposed to change the photo to that of a loved one? I haven't tried to open it, but I might just give it a try some day.
Now, my question is this: If this is NOT a random photo, then who the heck is she? And why is she hidden in this flashlight?

This 3D MagLite was modified by Nailbender, and has a d2Flex PWM driver to adjust brightness and runs for a VERY long time with this battery setup, even on high. It has a light orange-peel reflector. The DSVNI-binned P7 has very nice "buttery" tint.
For strobist: Testing new Ebay triggers (received yesterday) with DigiSlave 3000 firing into umbrella high above and slightly to right. F8 @ 1/250 with ISO 50. Triggers work great. Gonna have to point flash a people soon!
The forward-facing, narrow-angle beam uses 5 ultra-bright, 5mm white LEDs, and the downward-facing wide-angle beam uses 3 - and together these light sources enable you to feel safer while walking in the dark. There are multiple lighting options available with the flashlight’s 3-way switch: the front light alone, both front and lower lights, and lower lights only.
Each of these shots contains a Gretag-Macbeth Color Checker classic (http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=820) which is "an array of 24 scientifically prepared natural, chromatic, primary and gray scale colored squares in a wide range of colors. Many of the squares represent natural objects, such as human skin, foliage and blue sky. Since they exemplify the color of their counterparts and reflect light the same way in all parts of the visible spectrum, the squares will match the colors of representative sample natural objects under any illumination, and with any color reproduction process."
I LOVE LED flashlights. Soooo much brightness in such a tiny package.
macro monday - theme: big things in small packages
12 feet from target, on high, with white-top AA Duracell rechargeable ("Duraloop") low-self discharge NiMH battery
My goal this time around was twofold: First, shoot some of the buildings while driving. Next, shoot only handheld, and use natural light or my flashlight - no time exposure, tripod or flash. So some shots have motion blur, many were shot from the hip (literally) and the flashlight circle is visible is many of the shots.
