This bridge joins counties Waterford and Kilkenny. It is known locally as "The Cat Flap" because it lets the people from Kilkenny (the Cats) in and out. The fog was so thick you couldn't see the top of it.
The Surf Scoter has the most elaborate bill of the 26 or so duck species that can be found in our neighbourhood. This is the closest I have ever seen one for getting a decent picture.

although here we are not in a flap. The decorators have left and we are dealing with dust and getting our lives back into order . . . and I love having my home back . . . will catch up tomorrow, if not this evening . . .
In my attempt to record the growth progression of the Eaglets, I am not always able to get a clear shot. I recently noticed a lot of hopping around and wing flapping from one of the Eaglets.
Usually Little Grebe's paddle along quite sedately, so not often I get them having a flap. A 2nd shot in comments
Cormorant flapping and airing its wings at Weymouth Dorset UK a few years ago now. Came across this shot while looking through some old photos.
It was a great privilege to be able to get so close to the wildlife in the Falklands. This Rockhopper had been preening after a shower in the freshwater spring and finished with a final flap of it's wings.
Got to see some nice Trumpeter swan activity this evening, more to follow! Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge
