Imagine the beautiful scarlet colors of these Flaming Glory Bower (Clerodendrum splendens) flowers. Not even the lack of color in this photo can hide the beauty! This shrub is native to tropical Asia and Oceania and has spread to other parts of the planet for its ornamental qualities. (HMBT and HMT!)

Somewhere on The Milwaukee Road's Mineral Point mainline, Lonnie captured Fairbanks Morse H12-44 743 raising quite the ruckus. The engineer seems to be enjoying himself, showing off what kind of show the opposed piston locomotive can put on.

The building that housed the historic "Alysida" factory in Thessaloniki, founded in 1935, is being demolished these days, having remained unused for decades. We were very saddened when we heard this news, we had lived in a house across from the old, abandoned factory for eleven years. It left and took a big part of us with it... I am very proud to be able to maintain a photographic archive and I would like to share it, I will also repost six photos that I have already shown in the past.
This lovely Short-Eared Owl (Asio flammeus) was just a few feet away the other side of the hedge. I carefully found a small gap to shoot through the foliage where the owl was illuminated by the setting sun.
so vibrant and unusual, multicoloured and fretted, I love them!
A portrait of Parrot Tulips, so Baroque... looks like it is in flames!

Seen growing alongside the foot and cycle path adjacent to the River Tawe, Ynystawe. These look to me as if they’re a garden escapee.

Adventure always starts with an idea, and leads to something greater than expected. The idea of adventuring is to have new experiences which can only be found by exiting your comfort zone and searching exploring. This night was an off trail night, just falling short of a predetermined goal which I had no knowledge of in the field. I started a journey some time ago I call star collecting. Basically you find points (GPS) of interest and mark them with your navigation systems. Then when you're out in the field, rather than wander blindly you can seek out these points. This was one of those nights. Not nearly as sucessful as I'd hoped, we fell short of my target and ended up with this instead.
I thought it was quite beautiful to see what appeared to be spires on fire quickly lighting up and dissipating almost as quickly as they came. Right below here is a narrow long slot canyon and as I ran through it in almost dark you could see the bats. They looked like alien creatures and their eyes seemed to watch me as I moved through their home.
(029/365) for Macro Mondays theme "Flame". Quite a challenging subject. There are some very accomplished & focused images in the group pool. Mine is quite basic & abstract, I tried adjusting various settings & nothing was working to my satisfaction so I just put the camera on Auto & pointed it into my Stanley stove as close as I dared. I then cropped this the best of the resulting photos. The flames were mesmerising HMM!

So Flickratti, I am wondering if I should dye my hair and beard a different colour. I know red especially ginger is very polarising. Should I go blond?
I planted a few of these tiny bulbs in pots this year in May and they took 3 months to bloom. Now that we're getting freezing temps, I have moved them indoors as they are still budding and blooming. Best viewed large.
