The hotel where we spent this weekend put out this display of flags to commemorate Memorial Day, which is when the U.S. honors it's fallen heroes and families remember their departed loved ones.

Above Parliament House in Canberra, the Australian National Flag flies at 81m and is the same size as a double-decker bus. Big flag. Very big.
Sep. 10, 2022: The 9/11 Memorial Waves of Flags at Pepperdine University is on display. The nearly 3,000 flags - one for each person killed in the Sep. 11, 2001 terror attacks - were installed last night. The Waves of Flags, at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Malibu Canyon Road, will be on display through Friday, Sept. 23, 2022.
These military flags are, I believe, commemorative regimental flags. The places where the regiment had served have been embroidered onto the flags.
Visible on the first flag (from the Wiltshire Regiment) are many place names, including Mont Pincon and Anzio (World War Two battle sites), and Somme (World War One).

Do you know what each of these flags represent? At the top of the Rock of Gibraltar they have three flags flying. The Union Jack is in the middle, as Gibraltar is an overseas territory of the United Kingdom. The flag on the right is the flag of Gibraltar while the flag on the left is the flag of the European Union. Gibraltar has a complicated history, as this small peninsula, has been occupied by the Moors, the Spanish and British.
