The prairie plants are starting to bloom. I visited a beautiful privately restored prairie (Kessler Prairie now owned by the Bur Oak Land Trust) and found a pretty patch of Blue Flag Iris in a marshy area. They don't look a lot different than some Iris that can be found in many flower gardens this time of year, but there is something about finding them in the wild that is special.
The flag is a tricolour (green, white and pink) and was created in 1843.
This country lost autonomy in 1917 and after a referendum now is Canadian.
Terranova (in inglese: Newfoundland, in francese: Terre-Neuve; in gaelico canadese: Talamh an Èisg; in micmac: Ktaqmkuk)
Una curiosità e un mistero: i Micmac, o meglio i Mi'kmaq, (nativi americani presenti a Terranova) avevano una scrittura simile ai geroglifici egiziani !

Bonorong is a Sanctuary for wildlife run by a passionate team of like-minded people. We’re a social enterprise: a little business with a biiiig heart. The skills and funds generated through the Sanctuary allow us to proactively address problems in our surrounding environment and communities.
A visit to Bonorong is a chance to come closer than ever to something wild and fragile. You’ll come face to face with animals that went extinct long ago in other parts of Australia — the same animals we’re working hard to protect now.

Flag Rock is located above 3200 feet in elevation, and is located three miles above the town of Norton, Virginia on High Knob. In the 1920's, a German immigrant by the name of George Matuszczyk placed an American flag on this outcropping of rock as a symbol of his love for his new home. The Flag Rock Recreation Area was dedicated in 1974 and opened in the summer of 1976.
One from a trip out with the nifty fifty. It was not the best day weather wise but a nice bit of light along the horizon.
The wind was a bit cruel but at least it flew with the birds, Worthing pier on a blustery day .

A hero shot - one that I doubted about posting without significant masking (that lightpost - bugs me). But then, I thought: why fake it? It's what it is.
So here: a "hero shot" of flags.
Now, whose flags are they? Take a closer look? The one in the middle looks familiar...
The conductor of Providence and Worcester's Valley Falls based local PR-3 is on the ground flagging the busy Elmwood Ave. / U.S. Route 1 crossing as they head east out the Warwick Industrial Track with one load for Safety-Kleen.
