A young couple had just sat down on Brighton Beach to have their fish and chips..... A seagull walked over to them and the young man thought it would be nice to throw it a chip.....Nooooooooo. School boy error! In no time they were being chased off the beach. They left their fish and chips as a decoy to allow them to get off the beach in one piece!!!!! Sharp learning curve......

Every time I rode by this store I was always attracted by the bold lettering. There are actually several Fish & Chips stores in Leslieville, which used to be populated by people on British decent. This look like a no nonsense place. The portions are still wrapped in newspaper and as this was Sunday, of course they are closed. This place looks like it has been around for 30-40 years without much change. Did not try it yet.

The view out of Quinlan's fish & chip shop window. It was raining hard & I was glad to be sat inside enjoying pan-fried Brill, chips & salad. Their fishmonger sells fresh locally caught fish & shellfish. You can see a net of Mussels in the cabinet.

Excellent local chippy on Gorgie Road, looking all the more welcoming with the bright lights on a dark, winter night!

Within moments of unwrapping some fish and chips, a small flock of Australian Silver Gulls (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae ) began circling the harbourside park below, before swooping upwards in succession towards the picnic shelter, turning away at the last moment. This one was about three metres away. Bermagui, NSW Far South Coast, Australia.

I could not resist. The idea was there – although I don't have that much time at the moment ... And then I remembered that a long time ago my daughter had bought french fries that had been left unnoticed in the freezer ;-) What a surprise that these fries ( I cannot understand why my grown daughter bought the children's fries – but it certainly made sense ...) – yes, they were letter fries. Absolutely suitable for my project and a great addition to the fish hook (found a few weeks ago on the beach, luckily not caught in the foot, but only in the sole of my shoe) and my orange fish, which is guaranteed not to be a suitable food because it is made of plastic ;-) Quickly threaded, hung, installed. And then the wind came. So again it took longer than I intended. That's how it is sometimes ;-) Oh, and by the way, the french fries were absolutely not tasty ... so I could play with them, right?

Ich konnte nicht widerstehen. Die Idee war da – obwohl ich nicht so viel Zeit habe momentan ... Und dann erinnerte ich mich, dass meine Tochter vor längerer Zeit Pommes gekauft hatte, die in der Gefriertruhe ein unbeachtetes Dasein fristeten ;-) Welch Überraschung, dass diese Pommes (warum meine erwachsene Tochter die Kinder-Pommes gekauft hat, kann ich nicht so nachvollziehen – aber es hatte sicherlich einen Sinn ...) – ja, es waren Buchstaben-Pommes. Absolut geeignet für mein Vorhaben und eine prima Ergänzung zu dem Angelhaken (gefunden vor ein paar Wochen am Strand, zum Glück nicht verhakt im Fuß, sondern nur in meiner Schuhsohle) und meinem orangefarbenem Fisch, der garantiert kein geeignetes Nahrungsmittel ist, da aus Plastik ;-) Zügig aufgefädelt, aufgehängt, installiert. Und dann kam der Wind. Also hat es wieder mal länger gedauert, als ich vorhatte. So ist das manchmal ;-) Ach ja, die Pommes Frites waren absolut nicht schmackhaft ... also konnte ich ruhig damit spielen, oder?

Walking home a little after the sun had set, still a lot of light in the sky (at this time of year it's around ten pm before the sun sets here, but even then it's probably another hour before it gets properly dark). Cycle courier and another chap talking outside the Fountainpark Fry, so I chanced a freehand pic - bit rough, but what the hell.

Looking at an older boat on the small beach area at Borth y Gest, views from the car park.

You can access other coves, and beach areas after a walk through the village, on the Coast pathway.

Beautiful views from higher up well worth the walk.

The Sand is so soft on your feet when you find the beach areas. Some steps are a bit steep but handrails are there to help.

The steep climb up Waterloo Road is rewarding, there are various vantage points that are superb for views of the Pavilion, River Derwent and the winding road through the motorcycled chip shop mecca that is Matlock Bath, Derbyshire.

Of course, the 2 wheel world is nothing more than a distant memory to me now. Alas ☹️
