Only two of us in First Class from York to Sunderland. The layout and comfort takes some beating on today's railways. Avanti's equivalent doesn't even come close in fact in my opinion only Chiltern is currently equal to it.

Beautifully restored London Chatham and Dover 4-wheeled first class carriage No 9 at Quainton, during the Met No.1 supporters event, on February 23rd.

Sadly, the Sentinel loco was unable to raise a vacuum for the brakes, and so - despite much tinkering by the engineering staff - the carriages had to be shunted off to the sheds, as passengers could not be carried, without brakes..
