This probably would've been better if it had been my second shot with the new 5D, since I hadn't really refamiliarized myself with everything. But it still turned out surprisingly well, I think, given that it's shot at the equivalent of about ISO 6400 (because I was at ISO 1600 and accidentally EV-compensated down two stops which I had to fix in post).
But anyway, this was the official IMG_0001.CR2 of my new camera. I successfully resisted the urge to just take random test shots of my desk. Yay for me!
Happy Fall to all my Friends.... This was my very first picture taken with my rebel Xti back in 2007.

I'm starting up a new 365 project for 2014. I enjoyed the last project, and I haven't been shooting much since I finished, so I'm going for it again. It seems that I may have some partners this time, which'll make it even more fun.
My last project began and ended with a self-portrait, so I'm going to follow along with that tradition. I have a fairly cramped house, and it is always difficult to find room for multiple lights, a backdrop, and my camera. So, I decided to embrace the setup and just include it right in the photo.
Strobist: well, you can see all of the light placements. Main light is YN-565ex at 1/16 through a Lumodi beauty dish (with cloth cover). Rim lights are YN-460ii's at 1/32 through DIY striplights. Hair light is a YN-465 at 1/32 through smaller Lumodi beauty dish (with cloth cover).
My very first atempt to shot large format, only this was on Polaroid 405 back and is smaller in size to 4x5. Thats why his face is have off the picture. I kind of like the effect.
The Windows Phone 7 became available today from select Telstra stores. Photos of the first happy customers with the HTC Mozart using Windows Phone 7.
October 21, 2018 - Closer view of the cliff and the tree on the edge at Little Corona del Mar Beach in Newport Beach, CA during our Donut Street Meet Photographers Meetup. This is my very first picture with my new Nikon 50mm f/1.4 lens! What an amazing lens this is!
New camera!
In the hopes of rockin' some videography in the near future, I decided to splurge on a Canon Rebel T2i. As is my habit, I wanted to make my first shot with it something I could be proud of. So I resisted the urge to fully depress the shutter button for an entire afternoon so I could take a picture of the lovely Kate Peterson as my inaugural shutter actuation.
Thoughts on the T2i:
1. The LCD is GLORIOUS. Really puts the ca. 2005 LCD on my 5D to shame. I kept having to remind myself that, no, just because the pictures look incredible on the LCD doesn't mean the image quality of the T2i is actually better, it just means the image quality of the 5D's LCD is kinda shitty.
2. It's so tiny! I had kinda forgotten how tiny Rebels are, since my XTi's been effectively dead for so long
3. I really like using the 50/1.4 on a crop sensor. It makes me really wish Canon had a proper 85mm f/1.4. It's almost enough to make a man wanna go Nikon. Or at least pick up a Canon 85mm f/1.8.
4. Rebel style control layout? Not a fan. I really missed my second control wheel and my AF point selection joystick. Also missed my battery grip for the vertical shots, but I could theoretically get one of those for the Rebel.
5. I hate that Canon only lets me do RAW+Maximal JPEG, not RAW+Minimal JPEG. On a 4G card, I can store about 100 RAW+JPEGs or 150 RAWs alone.
6. Related: 18 megapixels burns through a card a heck of a lot faster than 12MP. This should not be a surprise.
7. I don't really notice the viewfinder being smaller per se, but I notice that I have a harder time actually finding it with my eye in the dark.

Here I am with my newborn son, just after he was born and got some mommy time.
Meredith is happy and healthy, and fed him shortly after this shot was taken.
Soooo grateful right now!
My very first picture on Flickr, what better way then to show who I am and what I dream?!
Okay, truely, I'm bad at these sorts of things, but I'm going to give it a shot.
I'm a resident of the Chicago suburbs, and I hate it. Ever since I was a kid I dreamed of living in California, always in San Diego. I'd never even been there, but it was always a dream of mine.
This past week, I took my first trip out there. Along with my boyfriend Yosh, our mutual best friend Furby, a girl who I adopted as my little sister Cyn and a boy who I adopted as my little brother Drew.
Yosh, Furby and Cyn...those arent their real names. I've always referred to them as that though.
Anyway. I fell in love. I love the beaches, the mountains, the harbors. We took a cruise, and found out I get seasick, which sucks though. Major motion sickness.
My boyfriend also fell in love. We're hoping in about a year to 2 years we'll have enough saved up to make the big move, and buy a place out there.
For now, we will be renting a place together in September. Scary stuff.
I'm not a professional photographer. Well, sort of. I've been in and out of colleges since I was 16, and photography was a major of mine for a while. I don't have a good camera anymore (destroyed in a flood a year and a half ago, I havent had the money to get it repaired, or to pick up a new one) all I have is a nifty point and shoot that works pretty well. I can photoshop, and I like to play with that.
Oh, and another thing I liked about San Diego? My allergies weren't that bad, and my nerotic-ness went down a few notches. But my mental illnesses are stories for another day
First picture with the new dicomed set up taken from the basement. Notice the deliberate use of the cameras capabilities to have a focal plane that slopes from the nearer at the bottom of the picture to further away at the top. (Check the meters or the mesh).
The picture has been shrunk to about 10% of its original size. a full size detail is here.
It's here!!! My new "Nikon D60".
I was doing a lot of dabating, between Canon and Nikon. In the end I chose Nikon.
And I love it.
Sophia Victoria Mulles Ocampo was born on 07-07-07 at 3:01pm at Mt. Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
Like her sister, she declared her entrance into the world with a lusty cry (albeit at a slightly higher pitch than Isabella's) and got top marks with her first health test. Her Apgar score was 9 (out of 10) both 5 and 10 minutes after birth.
