I'm entering a contest in which case a photographer submits 3-10 images that go along with the First Impression."
Here, I'm trying to do a diptych without it being an actual diptych. The first thing you see is the close up of the person, which is the first impression. Behind them, is something they keep hidden or "under their skin"in a way.

While many got their Silberra Film a while back I've been waiting for sometime so when I got the notice it had shipped I waited. Surprisingly it only took a couple weeks to arrive. And here's the first roll, their Pan100 stock. I'm rather impressed with the tonality, fine grain, and sharpness!

Era il compleanno dei miei 13 anni.
Sapevo che da lì ad un anno avrei finalmente compiuto 14 anni.
Non so perché ma nella mia mente era chiaro che, raggiunto quel traguardo, sarei diventato grande.
“Grande”.
Mia madre preparò la torta alle fragole e con i miei compagni di classe giocai nel mio giardino a ruba bandiera.
Passarono alcuni anni.
Il mattino dopo il compleanno dei miei 18 anni mi svegliai e non sentii nessuna sensazione particolare.
Mi guardai allo specchio e nei miei occhi vidi i miei 13 anni.
Mi tagliai la peluria sulle guance, mangiai gli avanzi della torta e mi misi a studiare storia.
Passarono altri anni, il mio corpo cambiava.
La sera dei miei 25 anni passeggiavo per la periferia di Roma.
Io adoro la periferia.
È lo sgabuzzino della città, dove nascondere le cose “brutte”.
È il posto di passaggio con pochi fronzoli dove c’è lo stretto indispensabile per la sopravvivenza di chi ci vive.
I 20 anni sono la periferia della vita, pensai.
Ad un passo dal centro, dalle grandi cose.
Di li a poco spunteranno in lontananza i grandi monumenti, i palazzi adorni e la frenesia della gente che correrà a lavoro.
Qualcuno inizia a chiedere indicazioni per il tuo futuro, per il Colosseo, per il tuo matrimonio o la fontana di Trevi.
Ieri sera giravo per una zona indefinita di Roma Sud/Ovest.
Ad un certo punto dovetti ammettere a me stesso di essermi perso.
Mi accostai, scesi dalla macchina e vidi davanti a me una specie di casa abbandonata con delle serrande chiuse al di sotto.
È facile perdersi nella periferia della vita, senza grandi monumenti, senza punti di riferimento, solo piccole cose: un benzinaio, una serranda chiusa, un bar malandato; solo chi ci vive può capire dove si trova o dove sta andando.
Ho preso la macchina fotografica in mano e ho pensato ai miei amici, ai miei genitori, alle persone intorno a me con una mappa in mano da anni cercando freneticamente di arrivare a Piazza del Popolo.
Al centro.
Alla poltrona in salotto sulla quale sedersi, tirare un sospiro fine giornata ed avere davanti a se tutto chiaro.
Poter dire: “Sono grande ora”.
Ho scattato una foto.
Questa foto sono i miei 14 anni. È la mattina dei miei 18 anni. È la mia periferia. Sono i miei 27 anni.

... this is what we saw: a dusky sunset over the Hudson River and New Jersey. Now our official spring vacation to NYC began :>))
There are homeless people, construction workers and all kinds of interesting people that I have run into in my explorations of the city. I love to catch facial expressions that reflect emotion and the costumes; (clothing) people choose to portray their self-image will usually get me wondering about who they are beyond the exterior they present to the world.
