Is is me, or do these Nutcracker cookies look a little like Freddie Mercury during the years he spent embroiled in the Munich gay scene?
(Perhaps I should call them "Buttcracker cookies.") Oh, that's bad.

This might be a silly picture, but I have never owned a linen closet before - so humour me - I am thrilled with this picture!
A pussy willow branch, which extends from an arrangement on the floor in front of the fireplace. From the sofa, the contrast of the chocolate brown wall, the tan fireplace trim and the white/gray pussy willow is much more striking. Doesn't exactly translate to the computer screen, but I like it anyway.

Dining room is small, but we usually only have a couple people over at a time. Would never want a cavernous d.r. We have a small table set anyway – ease to pass the salt ;)
The door at right is to the powder room (the 2nd owner removed stole the space out of the living room to create it – now you can see why it's so narrow inside). Original fireplace at left (now boarded up).
We've never had a place with a dishwasher before. It is going to greatly improve our quality of life!
We are in the process of buying our very first home! It's the first floor of a renovated yellow Victorian built in 1926. It's in Salem, MA and is truly double the size of our current space. Who wants to come to our first party?
Let me take a moment to point out: I HATE medicine cabinets! Just hate them! This thing is slated to come off as soon as I find a mirror to replace it. Every where I go there seems to be one of these things.
- Melaka, 9hb Mac 2013
Some of you may know that I (Elise) am very fond of refrigerators. It's the only thing that I love cleaning and organizing. I cannot wait to fill this fridge with goodies! And sort them by color!!

Does this not BEG for a Christmas tree? I've never been into holiday decorating but a tree will be had this year!

We bought this perfect jam when we were on our honeymoon in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. It was made by a woman who runs a bed and breakfast in the quaint vineyard-laden town of Tanunda. The B&B is called "Blickinstal," our stay was magnificent and the jam is made from only sugar and the most precious, sweet, tiny strawberries. I wish we had bought more than one jar.

The kitchen. This is possibly the largest kitchen I've ever cooked in! At the age of 31, I still don't know how to operate a dishwasher. Someone once told me that this is a sure sign that I'm Chinese-American. So I guess the dishwasher will serve as more convenient storage space for pots and pans.

We are so excited about this. :) The light isn't perfect - it's a more springy, Granny Smith-appleish green, but you get the idea.
I've never had a new sofa before, always getting hand-me-downs from Mom & Dad. The most recent - the blue one - was the first thing they'd purchased after getting married. I was oddly emotional watching it go, but then again, it's been around my entire life. There are many memories attached to that old blue sofa, but it was far too soft and bouncy for my back.
We needed something firm, akin to sitting on an upholstered rock - we found it! We really like the 40s throwback style, and the feet just happened to match my coffee table. :)
As you can see, Rem is becoming tired of being my model.
Please feel free to browse the Cornick family archive. The images were taken from the early 1960s and up to about 1980 in rural Somerset and Gloucestershire, England.
