Lee de Forest (1873-1961) was an American inventor, self-described "Father of Radio", and a pioneer in the development of sound-on-film recording used for motion pictures. He had over 180 patents, but also a tumultuous career — he boasted that he made, then lost, four fortunes. He was also involved in several major patent lawsuits, spent a substantial part of his income on legal bills, and was even tried (and acquitted) for mail fraud. His most famous invention, in 1906, was the three-element "grid Audion", which, although he had only a limited understanding of how it worked, provided the foundation for the development of vacuum tube technology. Hydrangea paniculata 'BERRY WHITE' 3/2022 Panicle F2- (Renault) Panicle Hydrangea, Mature plant size: 7x5ft., white, then dark pink, USDA Hardiness Zone 3, Michigan Bloom Week ISO WW29, In Garden Bed F2 for 18 MONTHS (Lowes,). Planted in 2020.
Missouri Botanical Garden: 'Renba' is an upright, well-branched selection of panicle hydrangea that features cone-shaped inflorescences of white, sterile flowers that mature to dark pink. The terminal panicles reach up to 6" long and are held on sturdy stems, making them excellent for use in fresh or dried arrangements. Mature plants will reach up to 7' tall with a 5' spread. Often sold in nurseries under the trade name BERRY WHITE. This plant is protected by patent number PP28509.
