I have change them around a few times as I wanted Ping Pong to be able to change her face too but then I realized That Ping Pong Pretty much Always looks Grumpy so maybe I never should have sold my first Edition Tan cause she just suits being Disgruntled lol

I just thought it was funny that last night when I was changing these two I realized i have a TON Of faces, I have sold the BIG Tongue Grin but now have almost all the other faces, UGH do I really need them all? Yes I thought so too :P

Condition: early inscription ("Giv'n to ye Musick-Club by Mr. Professor Goodson Aug: 30 1722") and stamp of 'Musical Society Oxford' to title, Dolmetsch Library stamp and pencil shelfmark ("II C 45") to verso of title, manuscript Dolmetsch Library label affixed to head of spine with translucent adhesive tape, old manuscript labels to upper cover ("21"; "915 V"), contemporary marbled boards, red morocco label gilt to upper cover ("Astartus"), with later endpapers (watermarked "1804"), cracked at lower hinge, old ink stains to outer edges, covers worn. RARE. The last copy we have traced at auction was sold at Sotheby’s on 9 December 1999 (lot 42). LITERATURE: RISM B 3557 and BB 3557; Smith and Humphries, no.191. A revised version of Bononcini's original opera of 1715 was premiered at the King's Theatre in London in November 1720. It was one of only two London operas for which Bononcini, Handel's great London rival, published the overture and arias.

“Under the Sunset” is the author’s first book and features eight grim fairy tales by Bram Stoker who, fifteen years later, would spawn one of the most enduring literary bloodsuckers, Count Dracula. The tales in Stoker’s first book are “Under the Sunset,” “The Rose Prince,” “The Invisible Giant,” “The Shadow Builder,” “How 7 Went Mad,” “Lies and Lilies,” “The Castle of the King,” and “The Wondrous Child.” The stories are illustrated with six aquatints and ten wood engravings by W. Fitzgerald and W. V. Cockburn.

I purchased this full set from a doll shop (same one i sold things to) but i cant remember how much i paid. I feel like it was around $20 for them all & that was in the 90's. All are unpunched, meaning they never hung on pegs in a store. Some of the plastic is yellowing from time but all are mint inside.
This is the full set of first edition Dazzle's & i think they came out around 1981 around the same time as the Glamour Gals.
These werent as fun as Glamour Gals in the sense that their legs didnt bend at all. Making them sit was awkward to say the least. Mattel failed in their version of making them stand because their left leg has a permanent bend in it & when you put them on the stands, they almost always leaned to one side which for a child, that was annoying (still annoying as an adult & im not sure which was worse, lol). The nice thing about them though is there was no painted/molded on clothes, all pieces could be removed. Essentially they were a miniature barbie.
Unlike the Glamour gals who were just under 4", Dazzle's were 4 1/2" tall.
I got all the dolls, dazzle city & the horse all when the stuff came out. I never did get any fashions & i didnt even know there was other 2nd release dolls ever produced until several years ago when i first uploaded my pics to my other main flickr acct & someone said there was other dolls.
The 2nd release saw 2 more girl dolls & 2 boys! Shimmer, Starla, Ace & Glint, as well as 2 more fashion packs.
Considering Glamour Gals' whopping 80 different dolls, mattel only produced 12 for their line total, which for mattel is really strange. Perhaps the feedback was enough for them not to go further with it. Had they made them bendable, they just might have been more popular. They will always hold a special place with me & i will never part with my stuff.

Charles Willeford is best known for his series of novels featuring hardboiled detective Hoke Moseley. The first Hoke Moseley book, Miami Blues (1984), is considered one of its era's most influential works of crime fiction. Film adaptations have been made of three of Willeford's novels: Cockfighter, Miami Blues and The Woman Chaser. According to crime novelist Lawrence Block, "Willeford wrote quirky books about quirky characters and seems to have done so with a magnificent disregard for what anyone else thought." Wells’ story of The First Men in the Moon first appeared as a ten-part serial in The Strand Magazine (Nov. 1900 – August 1901) with illustrations by Claude Shepperson . The story appeared simultaneously in the USA as an eight-part serial in The Cosmopolitan Magazine (Nov. 1900 – June 1901) with illustrations by E. Hering. The Bowen-Merrill Co. of Indianapolis published the first edition of the novel in book form in 1901 with eleven of Hering’s illustrations. The British followed a month later with their own book edition from George Newnes in London with twelve of Shepperson’s illustrations.

“The Chimes” is Dickens’ second Christmas book, the first being “A Christmas Carol.” It continues his social commentaries on the poor. Structured similarly to “A Christmas Carol,” the main character, Trotty, witnesses an alternative future through a series of visions and ultimately is given a second chance to put things right. “The Chimes” was a bestseller in its day, but has since been eclipsed by “A Christmas Carol.” “The Chimes” is illustrated with thirteen engravings by artists John Leech, John Tenniel, Richard Doyle, Daniel Maclise and Clarkson Stanfield.
In all, Dickens wrote five Christmas books: “A Christmas Carol” (1843), “The Chimes” (though dated 1845 it was released in December 1844), “The Cricket on the Hearth” (1845), “The Battle of Life” (1846), and “The Haunted Man” (1848).

This is the first one-volume edition of two classic works, "Houdini's Escapes" (1930) and "Houdini's Magic" (1932). These books provided the most complete description available of Houdini's feats and how he performed them. Walter Gibson prepared them after Houdini's death in 1926, from the magician's private notebooks and with the assistance of his widow, Beatrice, and of Bernard Ernst, then president of the Society of American Magicians.

Author Walter B. Gibson, after completing "Houdini's Escapes and Houdini's Magic" in the early 1930s, turned to fiction writing, creating the famed pulp hero of Lamont Cranston, also known as the Shadow. Under the pen name of Maxwell Grant, he wrote novel-length stories for "The Shadow Magazine" for more than fifteen years. These novels were adapted for the Shadow radio program and, today, they have been reprinted in paperback and hardcover editions. Under his own name, Walter Gibson has written many other books in the fields of magic, games and the occult.
