I normally do about a dozen First Communion sessions each spring. This seems to be a market that comes to me... I don't seek it out - so there is still a need for good classic First Communion portraits. I've really grown to enjoy it - the kids look good and feel good. I try and capture the depth of the occasion, without getting too schmaltzy.

A 21-year-old volunteer with the Care Inspectorate has been selected as the First Minister’s next mentee, as part of the ‘First Mentor’ initiative.

Toni Twigg, from Glasgow, will be mentored by the First Minister for one year. Run in partnership with Young Scot, the programme highlights the importance of mentoring in shaping the next generation of women leaders.

There are some first-arrival-flowers showing up in Victoria!!! - Snow Drops and Primula (Polyanthus). The word primula is the Latin feminine diminutive of primus, meaning first (prime), applied to flowers that are among the first to open in spring - well named. They come in a wide variety of deep colours. This golden yellow is known as Primula hortensis. It is uplifting to see these small signs of Spring in January.
