Absolutely random, but very spectacular. When I tried to shoot a fireworks, I pushed the tripod and.....Voilà
new year's eve I was in Mainz. A city near Frankfurt in Germany. fireworks was a magnificent show next to Rhine river. I guess I was lucky that night. It was a night that I'll always remember.
Boom ... and then ahhhhhhhhh. As I was shooting this I could hear some of the nearby neighbors and their kids as the fireworks went on. Certainly very festive along the river last night.
May be even more so this evening as there is to be a big display on the river Saturday night at a nearby yacht club.

I did my homework before heading to the fireworks show and had some okay results. I did a few things right: having a sturdy tripod, using a remote cord, using bulb mode, shooting at low ISO, and having enough water and snacks! *LOL I also did a few things wrong and that includes not having a wide enough lens. Being at the front row seat, 24mm on a full frame unfortunately wasn't wide enough. The barge was only about 200 yards away and the fireworks seemed to be right on my face! Some of them were shooting really high up -- most of those were cropped. I was also off on timing. Some of them I opened the shutter longer than I should have -- partly because I was mesmerized and awestruck by the display, and forgot that I was shooting! *LOL* Oh well, maybe next time.

This year, after the Parade of Boats in Annapolis (an annual event where boats are decorated for the holidays and sail around Annapolis Harbor) they put on a fireworks show. If you didn't know (or couldn't tell), I'm a sucker for fireworks. I love them. I wish there were more opportunities to see them.
We were in Annapolis for a family holiday get together and decided to stick around after lunch and wait for the parade and fireworks. The show was the best I've been able to see this year. Our Fourth Of July was ruined by rain and the few other shows we saw were nice, but not up to par with your standard Forth Of July show. The show we saw last night was close. Savanah was ooo'ing and ah'ing the entire time.

I live in a suburb of Raleigh, North Carolina which is the state capitol. Each year in mid-October the State Fair happens for a week at the fairgrounds. Each evening right before the closing of the fair there is a fantastic fireworks display. I'm so fortunate to be able to see these beautiful displays each evening during State Fair week. Fireworks have always been one of my favorite things. It's so much fun to photograph them as the displays and colors are so fantastic.

While the smoke kind of kills me for this image, I still can never get over how different the fireworks look from outside the park. I thought this framing was good enough and they still made it outside the frame.

Blanes (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈbɫanəs]) is a town and municipality in the comarca of Selva in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. During the Roman rule it was named Blanda or Blandae. It is known as the "Gateway to the Costa Brava". Its coast is part of the Costa Brava, which stretches from Blanes up to the French border. The township is 18.29 km². Blanes is a popular tourist town in Catalan and Spanish. It is known for the Concurs de Focs d'Artifici during the Santa Anna festival; this event includes a lot of fireworks.
