The casting may be generic but its Boone County recolour certainly isn't! A very appealing new recolour which despite its all plastic body continues to impress with its realistic US influenced styling and proportions. From the latest MBX Rescue five vehicle set. Mint and boxed.

Same well known face with a VERY plasticky grey rear ladder body which Mattel would be proud of! Its obvious Maisto must now be struggling to make its budget 1/64 line up for the low prices worldwide retailers demand of them which is why rather like Matchbox and to a degree Hot Wheels their products continue to decline in quality and features!

The well styled generic cab remains metal and cleanly cast but there must surely come a time when these will have to stop being one Dollar/Pound/Euro fodder!

Part of a five vehicle Team City branded set found recently in a French JoueClub toy store. Mint and boxed.

A fire engine from the Cars movie pulled up nearby and it took about 4 seconds for a crowd to gather.

On a very frosty morning, AF91, a Royal Navy-manned Green Goddess, responds to a fire alarm.

She is seen here departing the RAF Manston fire station, where we were based during the 1977-78 national fire strike. Manston was the only location in Kent to have two fire engines at that time.

The Navy crews in Kent were all trainees from various courses at HMS Pembroke in Chatham and had replaced Royal Engineer crews who had been manning the engines for most of the strike but needed a break.

Just 12 weeks into my naval service, this was a great adventure and mostly fun. Luckily we never had a really serious fire to deal with...

The Green Goddess is the colloquial name for the Bedford RLHZ Self Propelled Pump, a fire engine used originally by the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS), and latterly by the British Armed Forces. The design was based on a Bedford RL series British military truck.

I should note that the vehicle above has lost its White Ensign - flown from a broom handle amidships - to a low-hanging branch! We flew them to indicate to the general public that 'the Navy's here...'

Latest 2022 Case E recolour of the now long running Hazard Squad casting which looks as though it'll end its days with a plastic body and grey plastic! Still a very effective generic design which suits most liveries given to it.

Mint and boxed.

For some reason, out of all the modern Matchbox castings various Chinese toy makers could have copied, it appears the most popular one appears to be their 2006 Fire Engine! Maybe its because there is no real manufacturers licensing agreement to worry about or maybe its because its unashamedly angular bodywork is easy to copy? Whatever the reason, this generic Fire Engine has now been in the range for over a decade with a modification back in 2013 to aid in cost saving and can be found in multiple recolours such as this attractive yellow version from around 2014. A very simple looking vehicle it nonetheless shows that generic MBX castings can look realistic and well cast. Part of an old five vehicle set bought recently from Toys R Us. Mint and boxed.
