We're spending 3/4 weeks cutting our latest job. As usual we're not allowed to show stuff until its complete so we'll post creative a bit later. However we're enjoying the sharp cutting skills of James [Rosen] at Final Cut. He's pictured next to the stack of biscuits Gareth and Aporva steadly graze on.

This is the trailer for the upcoming 9th shortfilmfestival "Flensburger Kurzfilmtage / Tricky" in Flensburg / northern Germany. Filmed in one day on a canon 5D together with Joachim Freitag.

Flensburg is a mid-to-small-size town in the north of Germany, situated around a fjord, next to the baltic sea and the border to Danmark.
If you live here, especially as a teenager or young adult, you will probably like it - but you will not think it is cool. So we thought that it could be nice for the people coming to the festival to experience Flensburg in a new way - to make Flensburg look kind of urban, rotten, strange and cool - but still Flensburg.

Joachim and I got to know each other through a strange phone call in which I boldly claimed to be After Effects god, not knowing that I am so much not - as he definitely is! Being close friends since then we never had the chance to work together on a film project, which is strange, since we always felt that we would be the perfect team.
This is our first film together. As it turns out, we were right. He is the fallback on everything I can do better and vice versa. So we always had two DOPs on the set and two motion artists in the post, and we knew when it was better to rely on the opinion of the other for the sake of the better output in the film.
There is more to come from this team in the future - trust us :-)

This is my Final Cut video editing setup at work. It's a Macbook Pro 2010 edition running an external monitor and Euphonix control surfaces.
A friend of ours spent 4 years restoring this 1970 Chevelle into what you see in this video. The weather was perfect for flying so we couldn’t miss this opportunity to capture some areal views of the car….
Images were captured with a DJI Spark and edited in Final Cut Pro X.

April 14, 104/365- One of my students likes to bring her MacBook to edit on in class, it's OK with me since it frees up a class computer for another student to use. I had an idea for this photo but really didn't work, some days just go better than others!
"50% icy terror, 50% fun" was how I described my first lap of the Strathpuffer...
The Strathpuffer is a 24 hour winter mountain bike race in northern Scotland. I rode it as the first event in my year of microadventures.
I was in a team of four (team howies) and, in between laps, did a bit of filming. Trying to do "participatory video" is frustrating, but an essential compromise so long as I want to be involved in the things I am filming.
There is great scope for making a superb little Strathpuffer film. The variety of terrain and exhausted but determined riders makes for a great story. Unfortunately I was a) riding, b) limited only to filming one little bit of the course and c) knackered.
The Strathpuffer had everything that I look for in an endurance race: it is tough, it’s a bit daft, it’s in a beautiful landscape, and the organisers and competitors are all friendly.
The tannoy system at the main tent blasted out music throughout the race. The song I have used on this video -Springsteen's 'No Retreat, No Surrender'- was playing at the start of the race and seemed apt for 24 hours of icy, muddy, dark idiocy.
