This ebony spleenwort caught my attention today while hiking at the Browns Creek Nature Park and Bike Trail in Elizabeth-town, North Carolina. Here I cropped the image to Fill the Frame for the Marco Monday Redux 2020. It could also be an Unusual Pattern.
For this week's Crazy Tuesday theme: Bubble wrap
I laid some bubble down on my computer monitor while using a colourful wallpaper for the background.
Thanks for your visit. HCT!

#FillTheFrame
This was only a seemingly easy theme. When what I tried to do with a lily in a flower pot on the window sill didn't work as imagined (same with a eucalyptus leaf) a bunch of untimely tulips came to the rescue. Spring and tulip season are still months away, but our favourite flower stall at the Saturday market already sells tulips and since this winter is so drab and dark they are a most welcome forerunner of spring.
I kind of blocked myself out with this theme but didn't want to skip again, so I tried to focus on at least taking a decent image. I did focus stacking to achieve the best possible overall sharpness. No in-camera stacking this time because of the fairly large DOF that is to be covered when photographing the inside of a tulip blossom straight from above. So I kept the focus distance settings in the stacking menu at 10 (on a scale from one to 10) and combined the 30 images in Helicon Focus (method B, R8, S4). I must admit that the tulip's stigma is a little off-center but I think it adds a little pizazz to the scene (at least I hope so) so I left it as it was (plus I didn't want to take even more images, and I was also late in the game).
HMM, Everyone!

These little bugs are so friendly, this one landed in front of me and didn't move the whole time I was photographing it. I picked Delicate Insect for today's theme.

No flower represents the chilly fall season like Mums.
My neighbor has two pots of these beauties.
Fun fact: all Mums (Chrysanthemums) are asters, but not all asters (such as Daisies) are Mums :)
Macro Mondays theme: fill the frame with plants.
This is one of the many succulents that have come into my home which I haven't killed yet. It is a tough one, that's for sure.
Thanks for your visit! HMM!

Endless options for this weeks Macro Mondays theme 'Fill the Frame'. I settled for this in the end, after trying many different things. This is a tiny curved nutmeg grater and I liked the effect of the limited focus on this.

Another for the “fill the frame” theme of the 'This may not be Old San Juan but ...' group. I couldn’t resist! ;-)
This double-sided floral curtain in Longwood Gardens conservatory’s warm ‘Tropical Terrace’ features more than 200 vibrant, colorful ‘Vanda’ orchids planted among Spanish moss.
Vanda orchids are ‘ephiphytic’ orchids native to tropical and subtropical Asia and Australia that live in trees. They get their nutrients and moisture from the air, rain, and debris instead of the soil like most other plants.
