I prefer red bell peppers in my salad because... they are sweeter and have 11 times more beta-carotene, twice as much vitamin C and 10 times more vitamin A than green peppers.

I had a bouquet of flowers to work with for this week's theme, as it was the anniversary of my mom's passing on Saturday. It's now been 13 years without her...the pain and the shock of losing her suddenly still remains to this day...
Couldn't resist this title. As a peahen strolled by Mr. Peacock had to strut his stuff for her by shaking his feathers. This courtship dance is called "train-rattling" and the feathers shake about 25 times per second. Very entertaining to watch indeed. For a peek at the "flip side" check out: flic.kr/p/2mifJJe

I love the color of this beautiful carnation and as it expanded to white further from the center. HMM, everyone ! !
After a nice Saturday morning breakfast with the family, the hubby and I went to our local garden centre and picked out some flowers to plant in our flower beds and containers. While I was wandering around I saw this sunflower to take for todays shot. I caught a smirk from a gentleman watching me take this shot with my cell phone...lol This is a long weekend here in Canada and the start to our summer season so the garden centre was a little busy.
Thanks for your visit. I hope you all had a wonderful day!
At daybreak, even before sunrise, the children’s stepmother came and woke the two children. "Get up, you lazybones!” she said, shaking them roughly. “We are going into the woods to fetch wood." Then she gave each one a little piece of bread, saying, "Here is something for midday. Don't eat it any sooner, for you'll not get any more."
Grethel put the bread under her apron, because Hänsel's pockets were full of stones. Then all together they set forth into the woods. After they had walked a little way, Hänsel began stopping again and again and looking back toward the house.
The father said, "Hänsel, why are you stopping and looking back? Pay attention now, and don't forget your legs."
"Oh, father," said Hänsel, "I am looking at my little white cat that is sitting on the roof and wants to say good-bye to me."
The stepmother said, "That isn't your cat, you stupid little fool! That is simply the morning sun shining on the chimney. Now come along, before I take a switch to you!"
However, Hänsel had not been looking at his cat but instead had been dropping the shiny pebbles from his pocket onto the path.

The theme for “Smile on Saturday” for the 15th of March is "natural stones". A stone is what you typically pick up and hold. A stone is much smaller than a rock, meaning that it is moveable, such as cobbles and pebbles. In this case, I have picked up a pebble that washed into my garden from the property next door to mine. They have a path made of natural stones that runs along the edge of where our properties join. It seemed like a pretty and interesting stone, which I thought perfect for this week’s theme. I hope that you do too, and that it makes you smile!
I took this one a few weeks ago as an alternative for the one colour theme.
Cotton buds in a little glass tea light holder which was given to me by one of the little children at the preschool I used to work at many years ago. Some things you just have to hang on to as they have a special meaning.

It was last winter, not much to take photos of outside. I decided to buy some flowers i found at the supermarket. It was quite challenging getting the nikkor 50mm to focus very close to the subject so i had to crop the photo a lot to get in this close.
Thanks for 10.k views
