These are the filaments in a black-light. A regular-shaped 75w bulb. Taken in a pitch-black room...this being the only light. Shot at 100mm and @ ~2-1/2 feet distance. The noisy looking area, around the upper whitish filament, is some marks(scuffs) on the bulb...it's 12 years old. ;) You can barely see the glass (at the bottom}, which goes into the socket. No filters(not even UV) or anything used.
The shot was actually focused very well (through the viewfinder) but it looks sort of badly focused...due to the heat being released. I found that i had to use a fast shutter-speed(i tried up to 1/4000)..as this little bulb throws a lot of heat..and therefore,convection. :(
I might retry it at macro distance(~1ft.), but the heat will likely be more of a problem as i get closer, though i won't have to crop. It didn't work out as well with my 70-200 @ 200mm from 4feet.
Must be viewed at large(100% crop), to see some coil details in the upper filament.
In the obvious next step from the straight lines of Pick-a-Stick, curves are plotted between the successive points in the strange attractor. The artist is of the opinion that the results are among the most beautiful available on pixelbrain so far, and has so far amassed several engrossed hours watching them emerge out of the darkness. (These, more than any so far, are worth launching the applets for...)
