Filaments - I've always wanted to capture a face detail image of a hummingbird showing the fine details of the feather structures. I was finally able to do so with the most confiding Anna's Hummingbird I've seen.

More misty moments from the South Oxfordshire countryside. Love the way the mist turns into filaments as it passes over the clump of trees in the distance.

Robotically fabricated hexagonal components of glass fiber and black carbon fiber. Has something rather alien...

Filaments of the Aurora rain down in different colors in this wide angle shot taken near North Pole, Alaska. This was a spectacular Aurora that also included an unpredicted solar storm. Fairbanks, Alaska is one of the destinations for folks hoping to glimpse the Northern Lights as it lies under the normal path of the Aurora.

This is a view of the milkweed follicle releasing the white filaments called coma that transport the seeds via the wind to a new home to grow. In this image the coma are unfolding from the layers inside the seed pod. I want to call it Angel Hair. :)

I discovered this 2011 photograph in my photostream. It looks much better in B&W

dianthus, Lakeway, TX. The Sony A6300 has a nifty feature, auto focus works even in focus magnification mode, allowing sharp focus on the filaments at the center of the flower. Sony A6300 and E50/1.8.

Then the next shot, the filament has almost stopped glowing.

Then it all starts again.

Happy Wing Wednesday!
