Symbolism of the Passion Flower
The five petals and five sepals are the ten disciples less Judas & Peter. The corona filaments are the crown of thorns. The five stamen with anthers match the five sacred wounds & the three stigma the nails.
This variety, Barbosa, has a darker red tone. Some people call it brown amaryllis.
It does not have an exact classification, as it has thinner petals than the common amaryllis, but not so thin to be classified as spider type.
The tone and mixes are breathtaking!
It opens with a more earthy hue, an orange red with a whitish streak (some don't have a streak, others do) and as it ages it becomes cherry red.
Its foliage is also quite ornamental.

Every time I step in front of a Passion Flower (Passiflora caerulea), I am amazed all over again by the perfect geometry and intricate details nature can craft into a single bloom.
The delicate purple filaments, the striking central structure, and the contrast against deep green leaves... Sometimes all it takes is to slow down, take a closer look, and enjoy these quiet summer marvels. Taking it easy! 🌿💜

Te nježne ljubičaste niti, upečatljivi detalji u samom središtu i svježina zelenih listova oko njega... Ponekad je dovoljno samo usporiti, prići bliže i dopustiti prirodi da nas podsjeti koliko je svijet oko nas fascinantan.

Filaments - I've always wanted to capture a face detail image of a hummingbird showing the fine details of the feather structures. I was finally able to do so with the most confiding Anna's Hummingbird I've seen.

Reproductive apparatus of the prolific hibiscus — untidy and spectacular growing to five metres in my Gold Coast hinterland garden. On a misty morning.
Sometimes the camera picks up more than our eyes. I only noticed this tiny spider web filament attached to the water droplet in post editing...bonus.

This is a view of the milkweed follicle releasing the white filaments called coma that transport the seeds via the wind to a new home to grow. In this image the coma are unfolding from the layers inside the seed pod. I want to call it Angel Hair. :)

Fuchsia flowers from the garden.
So delicate and pretty and in one of my favourite colour-combinations!
Fuchsia is a genus of flowering plants that consists mostly of shrubs or small trees. The first, Fuchsia triphylla, was discovered on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (present day Dominican Republic and Haiti) in 1703 by the French Minim monk and botanist, Charles Plumier.
He named the new genus after the renowned German botanist Leonhart.
The Fuchsia flower has four long, slender sepals and four shorter, broader petals; in many species the sepals are bright red and the petals purple (colours that attract the hummingbirds that pollinate them), but the colours can vary from white to dark red, purple-blue, and even orange...
For those interested, the anatomy is as follows:
1:at the top the green 'stem is the PEDICLE
2:the thicker bit of green is the OVARY
3:then you have the (red here) TEPALS
4:the mauve petals are the COROLLA
5:there are 8 STAMEN/FILAMENTS/ANTHERS
6: And finally: the STYLE or PISTIL, with at the end:
7: the STIGMA: the sticky tip of a flower pistil, on which pollen is deposited at the beginning of pollination.
