Two Black-tailed Godwits (Limosa limosa) were fighting for the territory during a foraging break with their long beaks. They were biting each other with long tough beaks and engaged in locked beak state for sometime before the ending. Most classic is the posture of the left one with open wings to adjust the balance in this tussle. Pics was taken from Mangalajodi wetland, Odisha, India.

Update: June 28 2018
A year has passed. I am in such a better place now. I have carved out a new life for myself. One without abuse, hatred, fear. Breaking free from your abuser is no easy feat. I am so incredibly proud of how far I have come in the past year. Soon, very soon, it will be over. I will never forget what he did to me, however, I forgive him. If I did not, he would continue to hold power over me, control. I wish him well moving forward, I fear for his next victim.
If I can do this, anyone can. I was so incredibly low, broken, devastated, isolated, alone.
Reach our to your local women's shelter. My life began again when I did.

Those are the Olympic Mountains in the distance compressed by the long lens making them look very close.

A week ago I posted a picture of two Giraffes squaring up to each other. This is how it developed. I've heard of these fights resulting in the death of one of the participants from a broken neck. Thankfully not this time.

This is a fight between two Tom Turks during mating season at Cade's Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Caught an oblique glimpse of blue and white while walking through the local cemetery late one afternoon. My eyes tend to scan whatever environment I find myself in. Like most photographers, it's really second nature. Curiosity drew me closer. I found this figurine of the Virgin Mary, toppled by wind, and face down in the mud. The visual impact was startling and served as a perfect metaphor: blemished but unbowed. Somehow the mud enhanced rather than degraded the spiritual effect. I hadn't planned on any of this, and photography was the last thing on my mind at the time. Yet here I was, grasping this muddy figurine in hand, standing beneath a magnificent backdrop of clouds and gloom. Without even a moment's hesitation the image was captured. This is truly a case where the resulting image is even more dramatic than in real life.
My general rule of cemetery visits is to leave things as I find them. But in this instance, there was absolutely no way I was going to plant Mary face down in mud. I carefully stood her back up on the grave from which she fell. She was still upright last time I checked. Subsequent rain has cleansed her of the caked mud.
There are actually three Coots in this tangle - The middle one is submerged I think ! They fought for quite some time so I just kept snapping in the hope of capturing both the birds and the spray.
Goodness knows what the fight was about , or who the winner was!!
