Well, I'm back in snowy and cold Idaho. I must say that while the winter may not be as pleasant as in sunny California, I am grateful for the variety and unique beauty of nature in all seasons of the year!

The clear, “bouncing-ball” trill of the Field Sparrow is a familiar summer sound in brushy fields and roadsides of the East and Midwest. The singer is a small, warm-toned sparrow with a rusty cap, neat white eyering, and pink bill. Though still common, Field Sparrows have declined sharply in the last half-century, partly because of the expansion of suburbs, where Field Sparrows will not nest. Populations in the prairies have remained strong thanks in part to measures like the Conservation Reserve Program.
It finally snowed for the first time this winter, got half an inch at sunrise, by noon it was just a trace due to the ground temperature despite the windchill is 8 degrees F. Field Lark hunkering in for and waiting for the 65 degrees coming Saturday.

THE PLOUGH BOY
The plough boy wends his merry way
and whistles up the sun today.
Yesterday he made it rain,
and ploughing was postponed again!
Tomorrow if his notes are low
Perhaps we will be in for snow.
But if his tunes are all displeasing
Expect a bitter morn-with freezing!
Do you ever have one of those moments when you just have to stop your vehicle immediately, grab your camera and shoot?
This field seemed to have a bit of everything going on......light, vibrant colour, water, reflection, mood, clouds, silhouette.
What really caught my eye were all the pretty layers.
Hope you like it.
Thanks for viewing.
