I, Granger, will pounce with the full force of my manly muscles onto the back of Mouse as she lies sleeping on the snow.
Stunned and immobilized by the force of my crushing attack, Mouse will yield to me as I subdue her with fearful threats and humiliating imprecations.
Pinned under my weight and unable to lift her aging body from the snow, Mouse will submit, and I will be known forever as Granger the Great, Supreme Overlord of the Pasture.

A Magic Folding “Fidget” cube with the design of a micro scale space vehicle in a Classic Space grey/trans-green colour scheme.
The next colour scheme for a folding cube with a Classic Space design is grey/trans-green. The basic idea is a hovering ground vehicle used as a mobile planetary station.
One of Fidget's favourite spots to sit at home is the balustrade on the mezzanine level. Don't know why since it doesn't look at all comfy. Silly cat.
Another fidget spinner throws the light around during a 1/8 sec exposure. The light is an LED strip light.

The Pyrs worry when birds leave the pasture, and the ducks leave for an hour or two almost every afternoon. Fidget's concern deepens as evening falls and the hour of the fox and coyote approaches.
She's seen here near the fence just before sunset, waiting for them to come back in.
Happy Furry Friday.
Fidget spinners ...they're super dumb! I made this instructional video so that you can THRILL your dumb friends by STEALING their spinners and CUSTOMIZING them.

December 10th,
Present Day
GCPD Building
Stacy: “You know this would be done a lot quicker if you would stop fidgeting.”
Gordon is in his office with papers spread out on his desk. Stacy is helping him tie a bowtie.
Stacy: “There, see that wasn't so hard was it Gordon.”
Gordon goes over and looks in the mirror, seeing the black bowtie on his white collar.
Gordon: “Looks really good, thanks Stacy. I know it must be boring to teach an old man how to do something so simple.”
Stacy: “Well is was more entertaining than sitting in desk taking calls.”
Gordon chuckles as she starts to leave Gordons office.
Gordon: “Thanks Again!”
Stacy: “Anytime.”
Gordon slowly walks over to his window and looks. He sees the snow falling from the sky onto the moldy gray buildings, the smoke filling the sky, and the dreariness of the atmosphere. Gordon steps away from the window and goes out the door of his office.
Bullock: “Hey Lieutenant, we have a homicide in the south side of Gotham. Need your permission to-”
Gordon: “Not now Bullock, go ask Loeb.”
Bullock: “Cmon you know how I feel about that dirty ass-”
Gordon: “Not my problem.”
Gordon walks to the door
Loeb: “Gordon!”
Gordon stops at the door and curses under his breath as he turns around
Gordon: “Yes Commissioner Loeb.”
Loeb: “Look I know you need to go to the ceremony, but I need some documents for you to fill out.”
Loeb hands them to Gordon.
Gordon: “Who are they from?”
Loeb: “Branden and the swat team.”
Gordon: “(sigh) Let me guess, another compliant on how he never gets to blow enough shit up.”
Loeb: “Don’t know, don’t care. Thanks Gordon.”
He runs back to his office, leaving Gordon thinking about what he should do.
Gordon: “I guess I have to tell Hill I’ll be late.”
Gordon walks back to the office and picks up the phone, and calls Mayor Hill.
Gordon: “Hello...yeah hi Hill, I’ll will be running late for the ceremony…Yes I know this is a very special award just...It wont be long...just around an 1 hour...I have have some paperwork to fill out...7:30...thanks I know...understood...goodbye.”
Gordon looks at the clock, it reads 6:00. He lays back in his chair, feeling tired and exhausted. His recent promotion to commissioner has given him more stress, and paperwork that he can take.
Gordon: “Well these damn papers won't write themselves.”
He picked up his pencil and started to work on his papers…
1 Hour Later…
Burke: “Hey Gordon. Gordon wake up!”
Gordon opened his eyes and saw detective Burke standing in front of his office door.
Burke: “How was the award ceremony?”
He looks up at Burke in confusion.
Gordon: “What cerem-”
He looks at his watch, it read 7:00.
Gordon: “Shit.”
He jumps out of his seat and grabs his coat.
Burke: “What’s the matter, did you miss something?”
Gordon outs on his coat and grabs his hat.
Gordon: “Not yet, but in 30 minutes I will.”
He runs out the door of his office in a sprint, leaving the door wide open. Burke sighs.
Burke: “You know for guy that literally sits on his ass all day, the least he can do is close the damn door.”
He walks out of the office and shuts the door.

Another pattern created by my shiny fidget spinner, this time under a trio of RGB LED lights. The spinner is spinning, while also moving in a circle on a turntable at 33RPM.
This is a single, non "stacked" image, the only post-processing was to make the already nearly black background totally black. This exposure was 2.5 seconds.

Captured in motion, this installation definitely just begs for a comparison to be made between itself and the latest toy craze Fidget Spinners.
Unfortunately, though these are not giant Fidget Spinners but rather swings, that form part of the Freedom of Movement installation at this year's Vivid Festival in Sydney.
In my opinion, it's probably the most fun of the installations to shoot this year.
You can find out more information about the installation at tinyurl.com/ybttxask
Two Fidget Spinners (that light up) taken during a recent Buckingham Camera Club practical evening. Only the Fidget Spinner on the bottom (in black) was actually spinning. The fidget spinner on the top (in purple) was attached to the other one using some blu tak to prevent it from sliding off. The whole set up was lit by one LED lamp (top left)

Entitled Chinese Family [c1875]. Found in The Face Of China As Seen By Photographers & Travelers 1860-1912, authored by L. Carrington Goodrich, with historical commentary by Nigel Cameron (published in 1978, the book is still in print & is available from Amazon.com). The photograph was retouched to eliminate spots and scratches, and contrast was elevated to improve visual impact.
I just love this photograph.
Knowing nothing at all of the actual people; that is, who they were or what social or political connections they had, we can only make educated assumptions and guesses about their milieu, based on what is believed or understood about Chinese culture during the late 1800's. From the outset, the viewer is particularly struck by the rather formal arrangement of the seated individuals, and then immediately notes the contrasting inconsistency offered by the starkly informal positioning of the man to the left rear. Further, the setting itself is rather peculiar; the seating is positioned directly in the path of a moon door walkway, which one sees is a part of a weathered wall. One then realizes that this setting is outdoors, perhaps located in a private courtyard, and was most likely artificially arranged for the purpose of the photograph. The wet ground between the paving stones reinforces that the setting was outdoors. It was likely chosen because the visual impact of the doorway lent itself to the creative thought process of the photographer, as well as the practicality of affording enough light to record the image.
The purpose of the photograph is another issue. In our present day, a picture being recorded is so uncomplicated and common that we give it scant thought. However, we must appreciate that to the people of those times, being recorded in a photograph was as unlikely and as monumental an undertaking for them, as perhaps a ride on the space shuttle would be for us. My speculation is that the photographic session was arranged for by the man in the photograph to the left. In my view, he is definitely the master of this house, and the others in the picture were his wives and children. The photographic opportunity was likely initiated as an effort to produce a record of his family, as it became highly fashionable for affluent Chinese in the late 1800's to have such portraits taken. The man is standing to the rear (normally a servant's position), but by his very nonchalant stance, and to be so close in physical proximity, that is, to be nearly draped over one of the ladies of the house; reveals clearly that he is not one of the household help, but also reveals that he was not intended to have been in the picture. That is, had he been intended or would have been planned to be in the picture in the first place, where should one expect him to be? I would think that he should have belonged in the center of the photograph, occupying the most important position of all, telling anyone who sees it that he is the master of this setting. So, on that basis, I surmise that this was first intended to be a picture of only the wives and children, and not of him at all.
So, if that was the case, what then, is he doing in the picture? His positioning to the far left side is telling. My hypothesis is, that similar to spectators at crime or accident scenes, the man was so caught up in his curiosity to observe that he failed to realize that he had strayed into the scene and had become a part of the event. The look of the man's face strongly suggests that he was so raptly focused on what the photographer was doing, that he didn't know that he had stepped out of the sidelines and had put himself into the picture. One can only imagine that had the man not been so hypnotically distracted to have thus entered the picture, how much poorer the image would have been.
Socially, the furniture belies a family of some affluence. The wooden foot stools at the time were used not for the height challenged but rather to provide insulation against having to put one's feet onto a cold and unheated floor. The man has four wives, all of which seem to have bound feet (except for one who's feet we cannot see) bespeaking already his ability of a high degree of financial security. In the center, the most politically powerful position in any family portrait, is probably the first wife. Seated next to her is the eldest child, likely the first wife's daughter. To the far right is probably the second wife based on appearance of age. Next to her is probably her son, whose importance as heir mandated that despite his reluctance, his presence in the photograph was a considered must. This is evidenced by the notable steadying hand against fidgetting, of an off camera person (probably a servant) holding him in position. On the far left, the two seated ladies are likely wives three and four, with wife (probably) three, holding the third child of the house (borne from her), on her lap. The remaining wife was childless to that point, but still had her youth. The fine embroidary of their clothing further reinforces that these were women of importance, that is, they were all wives and not a wife's personal maid attendant or any member of the serving class.
Ring-a-Week 3: January 21, 2011.
Sterling silver, patina
Marquise elements freely rock back and forth
I've posted this cube on MOCpages in May 2014. With the recent hype about "fidget toys" more and more "copies" of this cube are appearing (and even sold) in the web. So I decided to publish (what I consider) the original with it's story on flickr, too:
After some other 3D Lego Puzzles I had the idea to build a "magic folding cube". Cubes like this are often used for promotional or merchandising purposes. I have a picture cube from the first "Lord of the Rings" movie which works the same way. It's not really a puzzle when you play with it, but it was a puzzle to build ;-)).
The idea was to build it as small as possible with an edge length of two studs for the eight "sub cubes". The only possible hinges for such a cube were 1x4 / 2x2 hinge plates. I analysed the position of the hinges on my picture cube and tried to transform them into a working Lego model. I tried a lot of SNOT elements which all didn't work. Then Lego released a new inverted 1x2 / 2x2 SNOT bracket and the folding cube worked with it ;-)).
I wanted to put a black and white "checkered" pattern on the cube, just like I had done with my Soma Cube before. But the brackets only existed in black, grey and red, so I chose a black and red pattern instead. For that I seperated the hinge plates and recombined them.
On MOCpages since May 2014

A Magic Folding “Fidget” cube with the design of a micro scale space ship in a Classic Space blue/grey/trans-yellow colour scheme.
The Borg Cube was my first idea for a magic folding “model” cube, a CS space ship was the next one. Being a fan of the first generation as I am, the colour scheme had to be blue/grey/trans-yellow.
Lego versions of a 'Magic Folding Cube', also known as a 'Photo Folding Cube' or a 'Yoshimoto Cube'.

Than to tangle with Mouse, but Fidget decided that she wanted BOTH bowls of Molly's doggie delight egg dinner.
Mouse puts up with an almost unlimited amount of Fidget's growling and posturing, but this time Fidget bit her on the haunch.
Hard.
It wasn't long until Mouse had a solid hold on Fidget's face.
Fidget and Mouse interrupted their dinner to check out a noise from the woods.
(And it was a good dinner, Molly's chicken-vegetable-rice doggie meat loaf.)
Mouse, at left, always gives her laser-lock stare in the direction of the noise. Fidget is more of a scanner, looking from left to right with a furrowed brow.
I saw two foxes the other morning standing on the ice on the pond, eating some fresh snow. They're really on the move this time of year, really hungry.
They keep well clear of the poultry pasture.
