aka using more junk to make art.
i have a ton of sheets and fabric in my room and we've been shredding them up and weaving them into thin cardboard, then adding oil pastel and tempera for embellishments. i'm always shocked at how many kids struggle w/ the "over under" concept, and shocked again at the kids who DON'T struggle, yet i expect to. :)

These pods are created by needle felting a core pod, carefully "painting" the surface with fiber and then carefully wet felting the pods.

I am glad that I decided to follow the theme of this week. It was so much fun of shooting fibers of different textiles with super macro lens. I found they are all very unique and beautiful. However, I picked the fibers of towel to share with you since they are really interesting and fascinating. Towel is absorbent because of the these long and twisted fibers.

The Great 150 Scavenger Hunt: #112 Something bright and colourful
I do a lot of crafts and more often than not it seems, I incorporate some sort of fibers into them. They have become a staple part it seems of so many crafts I make. As a result I have built up a great supply of many wonderful textures and colours. This is a small sample of some brightly coloured ones. Incidentally, it turns out that some make great bokeh! :)
FROM THE SERIES CIRCLES AND LIGHTS.
Fiber optic lighting systems transmit beams of light from a single, centralized halogen or metal halide lamp through glass or plastic fibers.
The densely packed bundles of fibers are twisted and drawn through an outer jacket to dramatically increase the amount of light that reaches the outlets.
They still fascinate me but I am less fond of those that change colours, I prefer mono, so I have these white and the one blue… so far…

Jute is known as the ‘Golden Fiber’ due to its golden brown color and its importance. In terms of usage, production and global consumption, jute is second only to cotton. It is the fiber used to make hessian sacks and garden twine. Jute is environmentally friendly as well as being one of the most affordable fibers.
Inspired by past Cyber Punk MOCs, I'd always wanted to do my own... but i thought I would take it a different direction.
Using various fabric / sails and all the elf-earred hair pieces i own, i was pretty stoked with what came out.
